The Engineer 4 candidate will investigate and prepare structure analyses, in particular Shock analyses NAVSEA 3010 procedures, to support ship alterations and equipment installations based on customer requirements. The Engineer will be responsible for developing and reviewing mechanical and structural drawings and providing calculations and analyses that support design requirements. He/she will work independently, explain system characteristics, and provide technical guidance to Junior Engineers and Designers. Travel up to 20% of the time to perform ship checks and surveys. Develops and applies advanced methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex technical problems. Plans, conducts, and evaluates projects or moderate phases of significant projects, coordinating efforts with engineers and staff. Conducts investigations and tests of advanced complexity. May direct teams in the performance of complex tasking. Performs engineering functions in one or more of the following specialties for marine applications: structural, civil, and or naval. Considered expert in field of specialty.
Office, industrial or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift. Possible exposure to fumes and irritants normally encountered in an industrial or shipboard environment. May involve gathering of data while observing machinery or equipment operations
