Algorithm Developer

Responsibilities:
• Conduct or participate in research, design, development, and integration of Air and Missile Defense (AMD) related software models and algorithms.
• Define and develop creative and innovative software architectures and solutions to address emerging challenges in systems-of-systems algorithm integration.
• Support the development and integration of large-scale algorithms for AMD planning
• Participate in a team environment to design, develop, enhance, and execute planning algorithms in the AMD domain, including providing full life cycle support (requirement analysis, design, implementation, testing, and debugging).
• Apply object-oriented design and development techniques primarily in the C++ programming language
• Develop unit test software through both automated and manual testing techniques to produce algorithm results
• Analyze algorithm results to support verification & validation, regression testing, formal test events, and concept/feasibility studies. Investigate and resolve problems related to performance, consistency, and reliability
• Enhancements, modifications and corrections to existing software.
• Code, test, integrate, and document software solutions.
• Administer Server for physical and virtual servers
• Administer security policies to control virtual access to systems
• Assist and participate in research, design, development and testing of software and tools, including developing of new products or enhancing existing applications, systems or embedded products
• Participate in internal review of software components and systems
• Receive detailed instructions from immediate supervisor; work within an identified work group
• Collaborate with project leaders and other professionals within Engineering
• Build stable working relationships internally
• Work on problems with defined scope, schedule and expectations
• Follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained
• Travel may be required
• Produce documentation to capture requirements, technical concepts, software design, and user information.

Qualifications:
• Considerable proficiency in Linux administration including Linux configuration, puppet software management, and STIG compliance
• Experience with mission planning
• Working knowledge of software engineering concepts, principles, and theories
• Working knowledge of the software development process
• Good ability to grasp and apply new information quickly
• Good ability to handle ever increasing responsibility and assignments with growing complexity
• Shows initiative on assignments, and professionally executes projects with little direction
• Good ability to be a team player who thrives in collaborative environments and revels in team success, meeting and exceeding personal and team commitments
• Working knowledge of software tools supporting Integrated Development Environments (IDE), version control, defect reporting and scripting
• Ability to be creative, innovative and responsible, and able to master good decision-making skills
• Learns to use professional concepts
• Ability to learn and apply company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Good written and verbal communications skills
• Good ability to recognize and clearly report relevant information
• Good ability to use the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the software development life cycle to support the generation of technical engineering products

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience is required.
