Tool Design Engineer II

Description:
Under the direction of the Tool Design Manager, this position will be responsible for the development of conceptualized tooling solutions and creation of CAD models to support the tooling requirements for any given project. This position will develop technical solutions to problems with a moderate level of complexity. Most work will be performed without direction and will require regular use of ingenuity and creativity. This individual will work both independently as well as part of a team to complete specific projects related to the design and development of tooling solutions. Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Tool Design Engineer II will utilize advanced experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals in the following areas:
Evaluates requirements to develop tool concepts.
Develops complex tool and equipment specifications.
Assists in the development of complex tool and equipment concepts and alternatives.
Ability to manipulate data sets such as conceptual tool design models and deliverable designs.
Will create and modify tool designs.
Develops and implements alternative methods and interim solutions for damaged or unsafe tools and equipment to meet functional requirements.
Participates in tool/equipment try-outs to ensure requirements have been satisfied.
Evaluates and develops/revises preventative maintenance requirements for tools.
Responds to requests for review and evaluates ability to produce proposed design with respect to forming, machining, and finishing by using in-house or supplier provided processes to support customer specifications.
Assists in determining methodology for assembly of components and evaluates part-features required to support the proposed product.
Investigates, develops, and verifies feasibility of tool concepts.
Incorporates safety, ergonomic, and regulatory requirements in tool designs.
Works well under general supervision.
Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications & Skills Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field is preferred and a minimum of 5-9 years of experience in the Aerospace Industry or related field or the equivalent in training, education and experience.
Requires advanced knowledge of Unigraphics NX and/or CATIA V5 CAD Software and MS Office products.

Physical Requirements: Individual must be able to sit for extended periods of time, working at a desk and/or attending meetings. May occasionally require employee to stand and/or walk and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Will need to be able to move throughout the office and talk/hear or otherwise communicate with other employees and management. Work will be performed in an office environment.
