Sr. Engineer / Systems Engineering

Description:
Sr. Engineer / Systems Engineering

Location: Canoga Park, CA

Duration: 6 month W2 contract
Shift: Regular 40 hour week, OT possible
**MUST be a U.S. CITIZEN - Permanent residents/Dual Citizens are NOT eligible for this role **

Duties:
** FORTRAN experience is strongly desired **
-The successful candidate will support several technical lead engineers in analyzing and evaluating design changes as well as supporting component/engine tests.
-The system is a pump-fed, staged combustion cycle, LOX/Kerosene liquid propulsion system with an ECU (Engine Control Unit).

The team specifically focuses on:
(1) supporting integrated engine system trade studies through a homegrown analytical tool (EBAL) which iterates for a steady-state power balance ─ optimizing the engine system for weight while meeting the needed (steady-state) thrust performance for vehicle mission success,
(2) defining a reliable, safe open/closed-loop control valve sequence using a time-dependent, homegrown detailed transient model (DTM)…involving physics-based, fluid dynamic, heat-transfer, and controls modeling, for scheduled start, throttle and shutdown operations ─such that no component exceeds their respective design constraints,
(3) developing elements of an real-time engine simulator for a HWIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) system to support the ECU design, and
(4) supporting component/engine tests through test stand fluid facility modeling and test data analyses.

During the initial system development cycle the successful candidate is projected to support the technical lead in each SPA team focused area, as follows:
40% - Supporting integrated engine system trade studies, optimizing the engine system for weight while meeting the needed thrust performance for vehicle mission success.
40% - Defining a reliable, safe open/closed loop control valve sequence such that no AR component exceeds their respective design constraints.
10% - Developing elements of an real-time engine simulator for a HWIL system to support the ECU design and
10% - Supporting component/engine tests.

Skills:
-The successful candidate should have at least five (5) years relevant working experience in the technical duties cited above or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
-He/she must further have demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills.
-Strong foundations in physics and math required.

Skills Required: FORTRAN AEROSPACE SYSTEMS ENGINEERING

Additional preferred skills:
-Programming skills (languages such as FORTRAN, C and/or MATLAB) a plus.
-Skills in using standard MS Office tool suite on the Windows operating system.
-Candidate must be self-motivated, have good attention to detail and have teamwork skills

Education:
-The successful candidate must have a BS degree (MS degree preferred) in Engineering within one of the following engineering majors: Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical, Civil or related major
