Senior Architect

Description:
Position Description I Job Responsibilities  (include but not limited to):Originate and check Architectural deliverables of moderate complexity, such as drawings, specifications, and material requisitions.Interpret and verify industry standards, guidelines, and codes for project deliverables.Reviews and coordinates technical documents with/from other engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction.Prepare technical reports related to specific design issues.Lead and/or participate in technical discussions with Client, Regulatory Authorities, Suppliers, Construction, etc.Schedule and monitor work activities.Manage specifically assigned project activities.Assist in constructability reviews.Support Construction by dispositioning Field Change Requests (FCRs) and Non-ConformanceReports (NCRs).Act as a mentor or coach for subordinate Architects.Basic Qualifications:US Citizenship.BS/BA degree in Architecture from an accredited university with a minimum of six years related experience.Have Professional Registration in Architecture.Work experience should emphasize Architectural design of heavy industrial/nuclear type facilities.Proficiency in using CADD (AutoCad or MicroStation), and Microsoft Word and Excel.Thorough familiarity with the provisions of IBC, UBC,  UPC, NFPA, and OSHA codes.General knowledge of technical responsibilities of other disciplines associated with facilities design.Thorough knowledge of Architectural deliverables, such as drawings, specifications, and material requisitions.Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally.Ability to resolve design issues with subordinates, Suppliers, other Engineering disciplines, Construction, and the Client.Ability to issue clear and concise direction to subordinates.Excellent listening, oral and written communication, planning and organizational skills are essential.Ability to independently execute the detailed design of moderately complex Architectural components.Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in architectural design in industrial,  nuclear, nuclear waste and/or defense facilities.Previous Bechtel and/or DOD or DOE project experience.Thorough familiarity with DOE standards.Necessary skills to present technical subjects with competence and confidence.Familiar with Six Sigma or other process improvement programs.
