Description: PDS Tech is seeking a candidate for the Sr. Principal Systems Engineer with SCI Clearance located in El Segundo, CA.
Client is seeking an enthusiastic engineer who is comfortable and adept at seeking new and innovative methods to improve engineering and test efficiency while maintaining high required levels of system reliability and performance.
Strong technical skills and interests in optical sensing systems is required.
An active interest in challenging the status quo with sound ideas and plans for improvement is critical.
The ability to apply modern quality and engineering efficiency lessons-learned from within and outside the aerospace industry is a strong plus.
The successful candidate will be a voice for product and process improvement, and will effectively implement positive changes while ensuring current contractual verification tasks are properly completed.
The successful candidate must have the ability to effectively maneuver and negotiate through multiple layers of established organizations using solid logic, technical analysis, and innovation to improve long-standing practices.

A major responsibility of this position requires the ability to positively influence the design and test efforts of future products through involvement in the preliminary design and bid processes.

The Principal Engineer provides technical guidance and direction to a team that includes engineers and other disciplines that are required to ensure successful execution of the IV&V plan. The Principal Engineer will work with this team to:
Develop test strategies, plans, and requirements based on product design and system requirements
Determine test equipment requirements and test configurations, interfaces, and engineered fixtures necessary to meet test requirements
Provide overall technical definition of test program activities, budgets, and schedules for complex sensor systems assembly, integration, and verification
Communicate test results, impacts, and recovery plans to senior management, customer test representatives, and engineering teams
Lead system engineering reviews, including test readiness reviews
Lead engineering analysis of test results and resolve anomalies, including test floor involvement
Required Skills and Experience:
Active DoD Secret Clearance
Minimum of 12 years of experience in imaging sensor engineering, including EO/IR, LADAR or laser systems for space, airborne, or ground applications
Multidisciplinary experience in the engineering design and/or test of optics systems, including mechanical systems, software and firmware, data transfer/buses, or specialized test equipment
Demonstrated interest in the range of optical system engineering processes, including requirements definition, design, test planning, test execution, data analysis, and operations support
Experience in proposal development, such as strategy development, section writing, or Basis-of-Estimate creation
Experience in preparing and delivering briefings to senior management and customers
Strong oral and written communication skills
Capable of effectively working in a team environment, often under tight deadlines
Active interest in leveraging verification lesson-learned into product development improvements
Demonstrated desire to successfully pursue new challenges, improve and broaden technical skills, seek greater responsibilities, and increase individual value to the organization
Demonstrated experience in conducting IV&V planning, procedures and strategies
Experience in numerical modeling and simulation, and performing analysis using MATLAB, Fortran, or similar language
Experience in systems engineering functions, including requirements development, analysis, and tracking
Knowledge of test methodologies and test requirement development
Knowledge of environmental test methods and practices
EVMS CAM Experience
Classified program experience
Ability to obtain a SSBI clearance
Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Science or Engineering
Desired Education: Master’s Degree (highly desired) in Engineering, Sciences, or Computer Science
