Punch Press Operator - CA

Description:
Will operate one or more automatic punch presses and inspect parts. May also perform die setting. Under minimal supervision, sets up, adjusts and operates power press to accomplish such operations as punching, blanking, shearing, forming, drawing, etc., by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Sets up and operates various types and sizes of mechanically actuated punch presses to form, blank or pierce metal parts. Positions, aligns and secures dies or die member in press and adjusts ram stroke and material stop gauges and sets stripper or ejecting mechanism according to specifications. Positions workpiece against fixtures or stops on machine bed or on die. Starts press and observes operation to detect misalignment or malfunction. Produces production run quantity desired. Inspects workpieces for conformance to specifications and adjusts machine to correct errors. Cleans and lubricates machines. Checks parts to template of blueprint specifications using precision measuring instruments. May operate multiple-acting punch presses, using compound or multiple acting dies. Complies with all company safety rules and regulations. This includes: using company-provided personal protective equipment/supplies (i.e., safety glasses, hearing protection); maintaining a clean work area; operating equipment and using tools in a safe manner; reporting unsafe conditions or practices to supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma and/or GED required. At least four years experience in the operation of more than one type of punch press or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read blueprints to check parts and obtain reference information from detail prints. Use of precision measuring instruments.
