Import Export Spec II

Description:
PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking an Import Export Spec in Sterling Heights, MI
  • Reviews engineering CAD models, drawings and documentation to determine classifications within the (International Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR) Control) for USG/BAE-designed commodities for the purposes of Import/Export compliance.
  • This position will perform United States Munition List (USML) or Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) classifications and determine the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) code and Schedule B number on USG/BAE-designed new release and legacy commodities, as well as, USG/BAE-designed commodities to be exported/imported to support Program objectives.
  • This position will also perform a review of USML or ECCN, HTS and Schedule B classifications of Supplier-designed commodities submitted by the Supplier to Combat Vehicles via the ‘”Supplier Commodity Classification Worksheet”.

Skills/ Experience/ Education Required :
  •  Possess technical knowledge and familiarity with relevant military and commercial design standards.
  • Good knowledge of products and advanced knowledge of functional or technical area; advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices in area of expertise.
  • Familiarity with common manufacturing practices and capabilities, experience supporting build events, both prototype and production.
  • Excellent communication skills, common sense and the patience to explain drawing changes, standards requirements and represent documentation requirements at meetings etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with direct supervisors.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in organizing and executing work while being sensitive to schedule.
  • Able to perform other tasks, duties or special projects as assigned by direct supervisor or Department Manager.
  • A proven track record of complying with company policies and procedures.
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiative.
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills
  • Up-to-date knowledge with the latest available engineering technology in the technical field.
  • As required, knowledgeable of complete manufacturing processes related to assigned product or functional area.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports, papers, and presentations and deliver them in written and oral form to customers, industry leaders, and senior management.
  • Design/engineering experience focused on defense vehicle design 5 Years
  • 3D CADD modeling and drafting experience. 5 Years
  • 2 years’ design/engineering background of defense vehicle design. Interpretation of drawing content. 3D CADD modeling and drafting experience.    

Education Preferred  

  •  5 years’ design/engineering background of defense vehicle design.
  • Interpretation of drawing content. 3D CADD modeling and drafting experience.

Experience Preferred

  • Perform technical reviews of commodities (i.e. review the model/drawing/specification to understand it’s form, fit, function, performance capability) and complete the “Combat Vehicles Commodity Classification Record” to determine (3) data fields: • Classification (ITAR or EAR Control) • Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) • Schedule B

Skills Required

  • Input required data and upload the completed “Combat Vehicles Commodity Classification Record” to the Export Management System (EMS) Work in EPDM/CREO:
  •  Search and review models and drawings per assigned tasks
  •  Update/Complete Classification Tasks as required Interaction with Engineers, Designers and Drafters regarding CAD files/documents. Reads, interprets, and uses related reference documents and drawings prepared by other disciplines, vendors, or outside sources.
  • Control cost/schedule at work package level and maintain the estimated cost/schedule of assigned task.
  • Act independently based on general direction.
  • Perform inhouse searches utilizing online resources, CD ROM, catalogs, etc., for part/item screening for various vehicle programs.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety objectives and policies.
