3-D Artist and Modeler

PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking a 3-D Artist and Modeler, in Cupertino, CA.


  • Looking for a highly skilled 3D artist & modeler who can create production ready, polygonal models with photo-real textures, based on CAD geometry.
  • Expert at creating highly-detailed, fully-textured polygonal models in Maya, Cinema 4D, Modo, or 3D Max.
  • In-depth experience with creation of 2D textures, UV unwrapping, and development of highly-detailed material.
  • Highly proficient in Photoshop and general 3D Visualization Experience with lighting, rigging, or animation.
  • Experience building tools and plugins with scripting languages like Python and C+is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills when working with other 3D artists and art directors on a coherent visual style.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and a passion for quality and the pursuit of artistic excellence.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated and able to adapt and learn in a fast paced environment.
  • As a 3D modeler, the candidate will be an integral part of a team of 3D/CG artists working on a variety of product visualization across various media channels.
  • He or she needs exceptional technical abilities to troubleshoot advanced 3D modeling issues, as well as a deep understanding of UV unwrapping and material development. In addition to these technical abilities, the candidate must be deadline-driven and possess excellent problem solving, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate should also be a proactive and independent artist, able to adapt to ever changing situations with creativity and innovation and work in ambiguity while still delivering results on time.

Key Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of AAA video game, feature film, or VFX experience.
  • Proficiency in multiple content applications like Maya, Max, Substance, Houdini or others.
  • General knowledge of Python scripting in Maya and/or Max.
  • General knowledge of off-line rendering pipelines (VRay), and real-time engines.
  • Strong understanding in creating automation both in and out of 3dsMax and Maya.
  • Proficient in automated and manual asset conversion (mesh, materials, animation).
  • Proficient in physically based rendering, camera, lighting and material calibration.
  • Extremely detail oriented, naming conventions, asset requirements, check and double check.

Additional experience:

  • Self managed, self motivated, and able to rapidly learn new pipeline and procedures.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for visual, workflow, and efficiency improvements.
  • Experience working with external development teams.
  • If specializing in tools and pipeline, a strong understanding and experience with designing and developing pipelines for assets and real time graphics.
  • If specializing in shaders, experience with writing a mix of stylized and realistic shaders for real time use to translate concept art to runtime graphics.


  • Bachelors or Master in Computer Arts or similar; and 3+ years of industry experience.
