JOB TITLE: Sr. M&P Engineer - Composites (Direct Hire)

LOCATION: Duluth, MN

PAY RATE: $100,000 - $125,000 per year DOE.

Summary:

    Responsible for development of aerospace material test plans, specifications, and processes, as well as the execution of testing and data analysis. Act as a Composite Materials Subject Matter Expert, and also support supply chain, production, and QA to fulfill M&P's mission as a full-service engineering team. The ideal candidate will not only be interested in performing in-depth computer-based analysis, but will also be very interested in a hands-on position working in a test laboratory environment.

    Competency in fiber-filled thermoset composite material selection, evaluation, and testing, as well as in-depth statistical computation and analysis including damage tolerance and Weibull Analysis

    Chemical constituent evaluation, and material selection recommendations including composites, adhesives, etc.

    Assessment and testing of the thermodynamic, mechanical, and rheological properties of resin and adhesive systems

    Write, edit, and present Test Plans, Test Reports, Conformity documentation, and Presentations of technical data and content

    Direct and perform novel development and testing of composite and polymeric materials and processes

    Provide engineering support to QA / QC, production, and continuous improvement efforts

    Test Laboratory experience, with hands-on experience in test protocol setup, trials, and validation / qualification

    Follow all safety standards and policies and ensure a safe operating environment, including use of appropriate protective equipment and identification of potential safety concerns

    M.S. or PHD highly preferred but will consider B.S. in Composites Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, or Aerospace Structural Engineering from an ABET Accredited University Program

    Minimum 6 years of engineering experience with composite materials; 10 years preferred.

    Experience with aerospace grade thermoset or thermoplastic continuous or chopped fiber-filled composites is highly desired.

    Preferred, but not required: 2 years' experience on an R&D to Production, Materials and Process Development Team

    Knowledge of process optimization / automation, robotics, and / or composite material surface preparation for bonding

    Knowledge of material testing equipment, techniques, data collection and analysis, and statistical evaluation.

    Weibull life analysis and / or mathematical modeling experience a plus.

    OEM or Military Aerospace, or General Aviation experience is preferred, but not required.

    FAA Part 23 or Part 25 aircraft materials, Type Certification, and / or Production Certification experience a plus.

    Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check

Competencies:

    Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft office. Minitab, python, MATLAB experience a plus. Creo knowledge a plus.

    Robot programming and / or fiber placement technologies experience a plus

    Language: Ability to read, write and speak the English language.

    Quality: High attention to detail and accuracy.

    Teamwork: Ability to work productively in a team environment; positive attitude and team spirit.

    Self-Reliance: Ability to work on major, long-term projects with limited supervision, and able to engage in direct interaction with all levels of the organization

    Professionalism: Tactfulness and respect in working with others regardless of their status or position or the urgency of situations; Acceptance of responsibility for own actions; Integrity in following through on commitments.

    Attendance/Punctuality: Punctuality in arrival times and observance of appropriate break and meal periods; acceptable attendance record and proper utilization of time clocks.

    Dependability: Responsiveness to management direction, and ability to perform on multiple Project Teams simultaneously; Diligence in completing tasks on time or proposing an alternate plan; openness to additional hours when necessary.
