SPACE STRESS ENGINEER (REMOTE) CA (PST zone)

Description:
STRUCTURAL STRESS SPACE Engineer with 6 + years'experience in space.
Must have extensive space experience and NOT aircraft experience.
DEGREE REQUIRED
Min. 6 years of SPACE exp with BS degree, or 5 years space with a masters degree
Goleta CA (REMOTE)
6 month CONTRACT
US Citizen required
No secret
PASS Background Check & Drug Test
9/80 schedule
Position is remote.
• Experience with FEA analysis, preferably ANSYS or Femap/NASTRAN, for structural analysis of designs.
• Review requirements for materials, structure systems & subsystems and perform required analyses to demonstrate compliance.
• Create detailed FEA models and perform system and sub-system static and thermal strength/distortion analyses.
• Ability to verify validity of simulation results by hand-calcs and/or comparison with heritage programs
• Perform sine, random vibe, and acoustic dynamic analyses and develop notching, response and force limiting. Develop driving load cases for piece part analyses.
• Modelling and analysis of sandwich panels, composite materials, and boned joints. Assess strength based pertinent failure modes of composite structures.
• Document test plans and procedure requirements.
• Spacecraft/aerospace materials experience for metals, adhesives, thermoplastics, etc.
• Participate and present in internal and external (customer) design reviews.
• Strive for the highest possible structural performance that is also cost effective and assures complete reliability.
• Manage and track multiple priorities while maintaining a focus towards common project goals of the program team, matrix organization, and customers.

**Master's degree in aerospace (or mechanical/civil) engineering with 5 + years' experience in space.
**Bachelor's degree in aerospace (or mechanical/civil) engineering with 6 + years' experience in space.
