Electrical Engineer - Machine and Automation Control Software

While the selected individual may be responsible for performing all aspects of engineering design throughout the project lifecycle, this position will focus mainly on machine control and automation software.  The individual will generally work within a multi-disciplinary project team.
Scope of responsibilities will include:
Develop or modify machine control and automation software for PLC, HMI, Motion Control/Servo, DCS, and VFD technologies.  Development of machine vision and/or product registration applications may be included for candidates with the correct skill set or desire to learn.
Develop functional descriptions, network riser diagrams, and software testing and validation protocols.
Adhere to project standards for design and documentation.
Self execute or direct small teams to complete projects per scope, schedule, and budget expectations.
Support hardware and/or software designs through lab testing.
Travel to the customer facility for installation, check-out, and start-up as required. 
Report status to the discipline lead or project manager in an accurate and concise manner.
Actively engage in personal and team development/improvement efforts.  
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
A minimum of 5 years of machine control and automation software experience.  Equivalent hardware design experience is desired.
BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering.  Equivalent experience may be considered.
Manufacturing experience and design application knowledge of PLC, HMI, DCS, Servo and VFD hardware, including edit-level software capabilities.  Experience with ControlLogix and Wonderware is preferred.  Experience with Reliance Automax or Siemens is desirable.
Application-based experience and design/configuration knowledge of industrial communication networks including Ethernet, DeviceNet, ControlNet, and SERCOS.
Manufacturing data integration and management, along with SCADA, .NET, SQL, and machine vision application experience.
OEM equipment integration experience and electro-mechanical aptitude.  Pneumatics or instrumentation experience is helpful.
Proven experience maintaining effective and positive relationships with engineering management, project managers, clients, OEMs, and vendors.
Experience in the Pulp/Paper & Tissue, Food & Beverage, or Consumer Products industries.
Other Essential Functions:  
While travel requirements vary by project and phase of the project, the ability to travel up to 20-30% of the time on average will be required.
