Project Engineer

BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for managing technical and engineering projects and ensuring successful project outcomes. Maintain budgets, supervise personnel and oversee the planning and implementation of projects for the company. Ensures that projects are completed safely, on time and at the quality expectations of the plan.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: • Prepare performance specifications, requirements, and statement of work documents for both internal and external • Collaborate with vendors as needed, to obtain required technical information and report technical findings • Develop customer presentations, provide engineering reports • Responsible for providing technical project engineering and project management support • Create project baseline costs and schedules and provide status, including performance, to those baselines • Identifies, investigates, analyzes and resolves routine manufacturing engineering issues • Initiates and implements assigned production-related design changes and conducts manufacturing reviews of engineering specifications and drawings • Provides the Engineering leadership to a team representing multiple skill areas • Develops statement of work (SOW) to satisfy research and development, ongoing and new business requirements • Plans, identifies, and coordinates the engineering resources required over the life of the project or program • Provides technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans • Leads systems engineering studies such as system requirements development of aircraft system integration, verification, and validation • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a high attention to detail • Team player with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills HR001.000 Rev. - 2 • Ability to be flexible, adaptable and able to manage multiple simultaneous tasks • Excellent task management skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment • *The company reserves the right to add or change duties at any time • Occasional travel required • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS: • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial engineering or similar discipline from an accredited institution • 3-7 years aerospace / mechanical design experience • 3-7 years of Project Engineering experience • Knowledge of basic structural, thermal, and modal analysis of mechanical components • Knowledge of aerospace materials and coatings • Knowledge of aircraft subsystem components, controls & accessories • Knowledge of conventional aerospace manufacturing methods, including; milling, turning, grinding, lapping, stamping, forging, casting, molding, welding, brazing, heat treating, etc. is preferred • Demonstrated experience with aerospace vehicle design and build teams/projects with emphasis in high temperature materials and thermal protection systems for Mach 1 to Mach 5+ vehicles • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a high attention to detail • Understanding of aircraft design, engineering, and build processes, including Model Based Definition, Product Lifecycle Management, Configuration Management, and Configuration Control • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal required • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project
