Safety and PRA Engineer

1. Reports to:
Fire Protection System Team Leader, Group Leader and Project Manager 
2. Work Location:
The primary work location will be in Nagoya, Japan. However, engineers maybe requested to travel to Seattle or Moses Lake (Washington State, USA) where aircraft flight testing is performed. It may also be requested to travel to systems supplier sites, safety consultant sites or authorities headquarters to coordinate activities. 

3. Scope of Work:
  1. Basic work scope is to develop and finalize aircraft T/C design, compliant to all applicable Requirements.
  2. Discuss with team members, related other Group members, DER qualified consultants and determine the approach for all identified technical issues in order to show compliance with requirement of AIM (Airworthiness inspection manual)/FAR/CS focusing primarily on ATA 26.
  3. This activity includes;
    1. Preparing the FSE PRA safety documents for the aircraft T/C design,
    2. Reviewing Fire Protection System Safety Documents (SDD, SFHA, PSSA, SSA, CMA, HLSA, MMEL, CCMR documents, etc),
    3. Review and Maintenance of the system / component safety related technical requirements,
    4. Review of equipment documents, supplier analysis, test plans/procedures and test reports to support safety report preparation,
    5. Supporting Validation and Verification activities and the demonstration of compliance activities.

  4. Support/ participate in authority (JCAB, FAA, EASA, TCCA) meetings to present/ discuss positions to the above issues and related rules, Issue papers and CRI/CAI.
  5. Support Certification strategy via Qualification Test reports (QTR), Similarity statements (QSAR) and TSO by reviewing and approving the above substantiation documents provided by suppliers,
  6. Other tasks include:

  1. Being involved in the corresponding requirement V&V process and will participate and/or lead in PDRs and CDRs and SOF meeting updates as well as meetings to prepare for final Type Certification and Entry into Service,
  2. Interfacing with the flight test team in Nagoya and the Seattle Engineering Office including Moses Lake to follow the FPS system tests conducted. His responsibilities will include participating with the FPS team to prepare and/or review responses to flight test problem reports, review of test data and ground and flight test plans and test reports,
  3. Performing or assist with inspections and on-aircraft troubleshooting,
  4. Assisting with identifying problems, adjusting and repairing systems during the troubleshooting process according to specifications, technical drawings, manuals and established procedures,
  5. Leading resolution of design challenges and any issues relate to aircraft certification,
  6. Acting as an interface for the identified FPS ATA with the involved design specialists, FPS system supplier and subcontractors,
  7. Being prepared to advise department members about professional knowledge in the Fire Safety development for his ATA as well as providing expertized and systematic contribution to resolve challenges raised during any design reviews and testing activities,
  8. Being fully involved in supporting the Design Change process and the MCCB activity,
  9. Performing other related tasks as assigned by the Team Leader,
  10. Being prepared to work as a team member in a multi-cultural and international working environment at the Headquarter based in Japan,
  11. Utilizing interpersonal and communication techniques, working in a team environment as well as identifying potential issues with the ability to plan and implement short and long term goals in aircraft development.
