Interfaces with Engineering and Production to ensure documentation and processes meet manufacturing requirements. Develops, implements, and maintains methods, operation sequence, and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and assemblies. Estimates manufacturing costs, determines time standards, and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements for new and existing product lines. Designs and implements necessary tooling, jigs, and fixtures in support of assembly and fabrication. Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.
Major functions: 1.Review new and revised drawings for manufacturability, reliability, quality requirements, and cost of manufacture.
2.Convert engineering documentation to a form necessary for manufacturing, ensuring accurate bills of materials and engineering change control.
3.Write, review, and update operational routing sheets for machining and assembly processes. Generate manufacturing BOMs.
4.Design and develop jigs, fixtures, and tooling to make manufacturing more efficient.
5.Provide sustaining production support in resolving problems and improving procedures and processes for production released products.
6.Interface with suppliers as required for process support.
7.Perform various cost analyses for manufacturing process estimates, tool development estimates, and facilities related costs.
8.Design and implement techniques that will increase yield and reduce production costs
9.Prepare office and factory plans and layouts as required.
10.Serve as member of Change Control Board (CCB) and Preliminary Review Board (PRB).
11.Conduct audits as required to ensure process capability both within Randtron and at outside supplier.
12.May be responsible for recommending corrective action where EH&S hazards exist. .
Education/Experience/Licenses etc.: Requires a BS in Engineering (Mfg., I.E., or M.E.), and/or a minimum of five to seven years of directly related experience in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment or a MS in Engineering and/or a minimum of three to five years related experience.
Requires skills as a seasoned manufacturing engineering professional with a full understanding of tool design, knowledge of machine and plastics fabrication, and a thorough understanding of assembly processes.
Experience with cost estimating is preferred. Ability to interact well with others and exceptional communication skills. A strong knowledge of current PC applications in word-processing and spreadsheets. Experience with and knowledge of CAD drawing (AutoCAD and /or Pro-E) is required.
