Facility Design Engineer

Description:
Design and analysis of mechanical / structural launch site improvements Design and analysis of platforms, elevated walkways, and other personnel access systems 3D CAD modeling, creation of production drawings and maintenance of design data Interface with other mechanical and fluids design engineers to understand interfaces and requirements Interface with machine shops, welding, and production teams to ensure final designs can be produced in accordance with overall project goals

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering; must have excellent knowledge of mechanical design principles More than 3 years of overall industry experience in the design and packaging of mechanical and structural systems Experience with parametric 3D modeling software for complex top-level assemblies; NX9 or later preferred Experience with finite element analysis, femap and/or ANSYS preferred Strong understanding of steel weldments Passion for advancing the commercial space industry and human spaceflight Strong work ethic and drive to succeed Ability to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding start-up atmosphere Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Strong understanding of OSHA requirements for personnel loading, access, and egress Experience designing personnel fall protection, access, and work platforms

EDUCATION:
Accredited High School Diploma/GED
