Product Engineer

Description:
Title- Product Engineer-Direct Hire
Work Schedule - 8 am to 5 pm (M to F)
Location-Moncks Corner, SC 29461

NOTE: At this client site they help their customers design, qualify and produce fuel injectors for Power Generation and Aerospace Gas Turbine applications. The Product Engineering role is a key one in their organization, interfacing with external customers to collaborate on product definition and specification of requirements, as well as internal manufacturing teams to develop processes and ensure production readiness.

In general, successful candidates will check at least a few of the boxes below.
Core technology in our products relate to areas such as:
%u2022 Combustion design and analysis %u2013 especially fuel injectors or burners
%u2022 Design for thermal management of complex assemblies
%u2022 Design for manufacturability of assemblies comprised of mixed, high-performance alloys.

Our core manufacturing capabilities and technology are as follows:
%u2022 Material joining
o TIG welding
o Electron Beam welding
o Brazing
%u2022 Additive manufacturing (printing and post-processing), and castings
%u2022 Fluid flow design analysis and testing
o Candidates with experience in fuel injection testing, atomization principles, gas flow control
o This could include specialized machining processes such as EDM, honing, laser drilling, additive, etc

Summary
As a primary technical resource, communicates and collaborates with power generation customers to optimize or enhance customer product designs to address both performance and manufacturing-related issues.
Responsibilities
%u2022 Interpret and evaluate customer documentation and convey those requirements to internal and external functions needed in the product realization process.
%u2022 Provide expert technical advice and propose methodologies for problem-solving with root cause analysis on customer issues or complex designs.
%u2022 Support production with competent technical information relative to manufacturing or processing techniques, materials and their properties, and continuous improvement methodologies.
%u2022 Conduct analysis and/or tests pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, materials, equipment, or processes and complete required documentation by determining required actions.
%u2022 Investigate and research new technologies in specialty or related areas to improve cost and performance.

Qualifications
%u2022 A BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is required.
%u2022 Five or more years of experience in product engineering in a manufacturing environment is required.
%u2022 Prior experience in industrial turbine fuel delivery systems or combustion is highly preferred.
%u2022 Requires prior experience dealing with customers in the design, development, and project management of existing products as well as new products from initial concept to production release including material selection, cost reduction, and ease of manufacture.
%u2022 Knowledge of stainless steel, nickel, and cobalt-based super alloys and metal joining is highly preferred.
%u2022 Experience with fuel flow scheduling, airflow requirements, thermal protection, and spray quality highly preferred.
%u2022 CAD solid modeling experience and a working knowledge of GD&T per ASME/ ANSI Y14.5 preferred.
