Senior Flammability Engineer (Rep: Albert)

Senior Flammability Engineer – Melbourne, FL

POSITION SUMMARY
Develop and certify new materials and processes; assist the engineering during the development phase, knowledge in flammability and composite materials. Issue reports as test proposals, results and witnessing tests in labs. Understand finishing process application on monuments and panels.
JOB RESPONSIBLITIES
• Ensure material (metallic and non-metallic) related engineering data is in compliance with corporate policies and certification requirements
• Apply technical principles, theories and concepts to solve a wide range of challenging engineering problems
• Flammability tests witnessing
• Certificating new materials for aircraft interiors
• Flammability reports analysis and interfacing with partners during reports proposal and issue
• Test Labs identification / qualification and interface between Embraer and labs for metallic and non-metallic materials
• Test results analysis
• Develop new materials and / or improved processes within Embraer manufacturing
• Determine and communicate technical material requirements with design engineering (will work closely with multi-functional)
• Develop project-related data for new or improved material, processes, assembly and manufacturing techniques and associated data including strength allowables.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education:
• BS/BA degree in Metallurgical, Mechanical, Chemical or Materials Engineering
• Experience: Portuguese or Spanish language skills a plus
Prior executive aviation interior background is preferred.
• 15+ years of experience in a specialized functional discipline
• 15+ years Flammability experience　
• Deep knowledge of test plans, test reports, flammability testing　
• Probably a DER already　
• Experience in certification of new materials, preferably for Executive aircraft　
• Deep knowledge of the Flammability Policy statement.　

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Customer focused with good relationship building skills
• Knowledge of executive aircraft and the executive aviation market with particular emphasis on Materials
• Demonstrated knowledge in flammability and composite materials
• Comprehension and understanding of broad practices associated within the field assigned.
• Applies these understandings in the completion of moderately complex work assignments.
• Problem resolution typically centers on less clearly defined issues, requiring more developed interpretation skills and abilities.
• At this level of Individual Professional Contribution, problems take on a more self-identified aspect
