Technologist/Specialist, Compliance

Description:
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Under the guidance of engineering management, works with engineering teams in the execution of projects or segments of engineering programs. Develops compliance requirements, and work plans for engineering personnel for the successful completion of those efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for reviewing modification sales proposals to determine appropriate Aviation regulatory compliance.
Liaison with avionics systems and structural engineering to resolve certification and approval criteria issues.
Reviews and internally approves project related engineering data to for engineering personnel to assure compliance with department procedures, engineering process specifications, corporate policies, and FAA requirements as required.
Anticipates compliance and technical problems with assigned projects and recommends appropriate action to prevent their occurrence.
Effectively reports to management on key project accomplishments, status and compliance issues. Actively works to improve daily processes. Maintains a current knowledge of technical developments.
Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical compliance issues associated with specific projects.
Coordinate support for foreign certifications, familiarizations, and validations as required.
Must stay current of new and proposed FAA compliance requirements and assist management and quoting to determine the buisness impact.
Perform other job duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Associates degree preferred or equivalent engineering experience.
Must have five years’ experience in aviation certification /compliance processes (STC process, Field Approvals, PMA approval, foreign aviation modification approval, DER, DAR, FAA certification office).
Must demonstrate command of Federal Aviation Regulations, Advisory Circulars, Orders, Notices related to MRO alterations and repairs and be able to explain their applications.
Must demonstrate understanding of MRO related FAA/ODA STC process.
Five years’ experience in (Part 25) aviation MRO related leadership position preferred.
Foreign Certification experience desired.

SUPERVISORY
Provides guidance to engineers on design and approval criteria.

Must be able to handle multiple projects, multiple deadlines and meet aggressive schedules.
Must be able to look ahead, anticipate problems and proactively address issues.
Must have strong organization and planning skills.
Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.
Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Must be able to work either alone or as a team to solve problems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong interpersonal skills, team building skills, and the ability to persuade others without creating adversarial relationships.
Must have knowledge of Microsoft products required such as Excel and Word. Knowledge of AutoCad R14 or higher preferred.
Must be able to enter aircraft unassisted, kneel or physically capable perform interior evaluations that include but not limited to removing life raft from aircraft storage location.
The position requires sitting at computer, standing at 30 minute meetings and walking to aircraft on the ramp.
The noise level is usually moderate.
