Materials Engineer

We are currently seeking a Materials Engineer with a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) background to oversee NDT operations and to support auditing supplier progress in our Space Systems Material Group. 
This position requires an energetic and enthusiastic person willing to lead, promote and drive NDT process control and improvement methodologies into Hamilton Sundstrand manufacturing processes. 
-Must have or be capable of achieving certification as a NAS 410 Level 3 in penetrant, magnetic particle, x-ray and ultrasonic testing. ASNT or United Technologies Corporation (UTC) member company level 3 certification is a plus 
-Must have expertise in NDT with some knowledge of Special Processes (heat treat, welding, brazing, plating etc.) 

The successful candidate will maintain manufacturing operation level procedures, inspection techniques, training, and certifications of factory employees in NDT methods as well as support NDT investigations perform inspections and conducting supplier audits. Audits might include special processes other than NDT. 

Responsibilities include
-Support Materials Quality Engineering through supplier audits and information tracking. The successful candidate will perform audits of supplier critical processes. This involves using your materials technical process knowledge to evaluate supplier compliance with specification requirements 
-Provide NDE support to designers to ensure components are able to be inspected. 
-Function as an ASNT Level III reviewer for techniques and interpret NDE results. 


5-10 years of experience in NDT 
NAS 410 Level III certification in penetrant, radiography/x-ray, and ultrasonic testing is required. 
Shall have thorough knowledge of non-destructive testing methods, training, qualifying and certifying NDT inspection personnel, writing NDT procedures, developing NDT inspection techniques and being able to process and inspect components within the methods certified, Excellent interpersonal, organizational, Supplier quality experience preferred 

Additional Comments 
In addition, the candidate should have a good manufacturing, machining background with some knowledge of raw material control and testing heat treating Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM), brazing, welding, machining, coating quality systems and supplier surveillance. 
This job is considered a sensitive position in accordance with NASA guidelines. The selected candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per NASA’s regulation subpart 1823.5 “Drug-Free”
