AIX Systems Engineer

What does a great AIX Systems Engineer do?
As a Systems Engineer you will be supplementing the team on the XP2 Application Service Provider migration project (DCX) installing and configuring the XP2 systems from their current location to the production and disaster recovery data center locations.
Being a successful Systems Engineer means learning and performing the installation and configuration process and assisting the team on the timely preparation of the systems throughout the migration process. This will include the XP2 application on IBM AIX system partitions and Windows Virtual Machines with multiple versions and updates.
Your scope of responsibility includes the installation and administration of the XP2 core program/project tracks of work, using various skill-sets ensuring a consistent usage of standard practices. Providing execution of the installation and upgrade plans on the servers in the three datacenters till the migration project is complete. Specific examples may include:
Maintain a working knowledge of the installation and upgrade process of the XP2 core application on IBM AIX and Windows VM’s. Be able to swing with changes to the procedures as they change.
Work with the team on In-House XP2 client hardware configuration, and installation, for training on the core and assist with installation and migration backlog if necessary.
Work independently and in a group to achieve the project goals
Work with other teams on the interaction between the core application and peripheral functions and applications
Basic qualifications for consideration:
High School/GED Diploma
3 years of AIX system administration or relevant consulting experience
3 years of Windows system administration or relevant consulting experience
Working knowledge of VPN processes and basic security requirements

Up to 15% travel within the United States
Can be 100% remote (prefer EST or CST zone)

Preferred qualifications for consideration:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
Excellent analytical, interpersonal communications and time management skills
Experience in banking, financial services, and/or software industries
IBM AIX System Administration experience, application management, or similar
Key areas include:

• Upgrade
• Continuing operation of the applications
• Consulting services through the Payments Performance Management team
