CADD Designer/Technician II

PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking a CADD Designer/Technician II for our client in Fort Worth, TX.

The CAD designer works as an independent contractor in conjunction with the Conveyance Team to prepare preliminary designs using engineering design concepts and design software. This person must have exceptional time management skills, be detail oriented, and have a solid understanding of design software standards.

Essential Functions

• Drafts detailed drawings of pipeline plan and profile sheets, plots maps and charts showing profiles and cross-sections, indicating relation of topographical contours and elevations to buildings, retaining walls, tunnels, overhead power lines, and other structures from engineer markups and sketches.
• Work to provide drawings, figures, exhibits, etc. as required to meet the team needs.
• Work closely with all team members to ensure that the drawings convey the correct information, to obtain information or ensure drawing clarity.
• Self-check own work for completeness, accuracy, meeting standards, fits and stack-ups.
• Must have a good working knowledge of geometry, mathematics and trigonometry to base work upon.
• Thorough knowledge of the standard terminology, techniques and practices of engineering drafting.
• Must be able to modify existing drawings to minimize the need to create new drawings and create new drawings when necessary in a timely fashion, which meet internal standards.
• Able to take layouts from engineers and provide construction sheets detailing the facility
• Able to contribute in design reviews and improve job efficiencies.
• Computer literacy in the company’s software.
• CAD system proficiency.
• Working knowledge of general construction techniques and the role of the drawings in the construction project.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and sketches.
• Ability to serve as lead technician to coordinate project drafting.
• Must maintain an awareness of and regularly work within established schedules and budgets.

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microstation preferred.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD infrastructure (common name Civil 3D).

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
Candidates should be prepared to serve in a traditional professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. 
Physical/Mental Demands
Physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

Mental demands typically include time management, conflict resolution, excellent communication and organizational skills. Must be able to manage fast paced project environment with multiple deadlines. 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a temporary, contract position that is not expected to last three to six months. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional longer hours may be required as job duties demand, including evenings and/or weekend work.

Travel is not expected for this position's essential job duties.

Required Education and Experience
• Minimum Experience:  5 years of Water or Wastewater or Gas Utility Experience including Pump Station
• Knowledge and Practical Use of AutoCAD 2011 or newer.  Minimum 5 years’ experience with AutoCAD.
• Knowledge and Practical Use of AutoCAD Infrastructure (common name Civil 3D).  Minimum 2 years’ experience with Civil 3D

Preferred Education and Experience
AutoCAD Certified, Associates or Bachelor's degree.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
1. Must have a valid Driver's License.
2. Must be able to read, write and speak English at a professional level.

Work Authorizations/Security Clearance
Must be able to legally work in the United States without sponsorship.
