Landing Gear Design Engineer (309)

Description:
*This is a full time, 1 year contract located in Palmdale, CA*
*Per diem split is available for our of town contractors*

This position is for a landing gear engineer. A successful candidate will apply extensive technical expertise with landing gear system principles and techniques including most of the following: shock strut, door mechanisms, gear retraction, hydraulic or electro-mechanical actuators, bearing selection, steering, brakes, tires and preliminary structural analysis.

We are hiring for a contract landing gear design engineer who will be working with landing gear retraction, landing gear system principles, including shock strut, door mechanisms, gear retraction, hydraulic or electro-mechanical actuators, bearing selection, steering, brakes, tires and preliminary structural analysis.

The contractor will work in a system engineering capacity with much of the work touching several areas of a large aerospace entity including QA, Planning, Tooling, Structural Engineering, Materials, Airframe Design, Fight testing and manufacturing floor.

Daily duties will include developing testing, validation of mechanical designs, working with outside vendors/suppliers and manufacturing teams, clients, creating structures using CATIA, developing system requirements, and statements of work, trade studies, developing testing procedures and plans, adherence to timelines and budgets, leadership of others.

Required:
*10 Years of aerospace structures/mechanical system design and modelling using CATIA; experience with control drawings; strong GD&T (ASME 14.100) experience
*Strong system engineering, requirements development, and supporting of the manufacturing floor
*History of coordinating with suppliers, integrated product teams, management and the customer.
*Familiar with performance specifications, system checkout procedures, statements of work, trade studies, and component/ground/flight test plans.
*Leadership experience including project monitoring, adherence to timelines and goals.
*Active Secret Clearance (Special Access) with investigation within last 5 years.
