Facility and Design Engineer

Facility and Design Engineer

• The Facility and Design Engineer will support repairs, modifications, and new designs of launch facilities in support of client Atlas V and Delta IV Launch Operations and Vandenberg Air Force Base California as part of client’s Engineering and Infrastructure Team. The successful candidate will provide engineering and management support of SLC-3 / Atlas V, SLC6 / Delta IV, and other associated facilities. The engineering and management support will include, but is not limited to: architectural, HVAC, electrical, civil, structural and mechanical systems, maintenance and facility corrosion control activities.

• The Candidate will coordinate the procurement of facility services, equipment, and will perform a variety of engineering tasks in support of mechanical, electrical and structural facility maintenance. The Candidate will perform investigation of anomalies encountered and will be responsible for developing corrective action plans and work documents for both client and sub-contractor support. The Candidate will work with various government groups including Air Force and Base Civil Engineering personnel.

• The successful candidate shall prepare Statements of Work with detailed contractor direction, and manage contractor’s activities for facility corrosion control, repair of building architectural systems, miscellaneous civil, structural and mechanical repairs/modifications.

• In addition, the candidate will gather information, perform field walk-downs, and create, schedule and manage the performance of maintenance and/or corrective Work Orders performed by client represented personnel. Support will also include schedule integration and coordination of maintenance activities around launch processing activities. Candidate shall have relevant facility engineering experience with an emphasis on architectural facility/building systems operations/modifications.

• The candidate shall perform engineering calculations, trade-studies, designs, evaluations, and rough cost estimates in support of the above engineering activities.

• Must have excellent communication, writing and oral skills and have the ability to work with a wide range of team members including client represented personnel, customers and subcontractors.
• Ability to solve practical problems. Able to analyze and interpret data to make sound judgments and recommendations. Ability to learn and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, logic diagrams and technical manuals.
• Basic experience with AutoCAD, create/revise engineering drawings as required.
• Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office suite.
*U.S. Citizenship or Green Card is required by law, regulation, executive order, or government contract.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in an Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent, with a minimum 3 yrs of professional experience.
• Experience with facilities engineering and plant operations.
• Experience working independently and in a team environment, with both represented and contractor personnel.
