Sr. Project Engineer - Materials Management

Sr. Project Engineer
Chula Vista, CA
12+ month contract


This position will create and update a bill of materials (for actual material and purchased services) for all R&D projects and expedite the purchasing process when necessary. Create, status and update various MS Project plans for R&D engineering projects, gather data to update plans, post standardized visuals, update standardized trackers in a visual form and post on a weekly basis. Attend project team meetings in order to update project plans, to do lists, bill of materials tracker, risk registers, and execute SOW’s and PO’s, when needed. Provide R&D leadership semi-weekly risk statuses using standardized format. Should be expert-level Microsoft Project and Excel and comfortable working with and speaking to the team.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education & Experience
•Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the management of projects with at least 2 years in the aerospace and/or airline industry
•Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology a minimum, mechanical, aero, civil, or materials science preferred
•Expertise in developing and executing operating budgets
•Experience with quality management systems and/or regulatory compliance desired

Skills
•Strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of collaboration at all levels required
•Demonstrated ability to multi-task with strong task orientation and attention to detail required
•Experience in Earned Value Management (EVMS) a plus
•Demonstrated ability to produce and maintain project plans required
•Ability to coordinate with people in different project teams and functional roles required
•Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal required
•Experience in Risk Management a plus
Required Computer Skills

•Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
•Expertise in MS Project
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

•PMI Project Management Professional certification a plus
