Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following. % of Time
• Creates new product concepts and designs in support Engineering Dept. and Project Engineer. Creates multiple iterations of mechanical design data in support of Program Directives.
• Prepare/update mechanical drawings. Draft and draw mechanical drawings to facilitate installation in aircraft according to FAA Regulations and MIL specifications. Consult with aircraft/vendor’s product service representatives to resolve problems
• Provide technical support to the Project Engineer with respect to project deliverables, cost estimates, maintenance instructions, installation instructions, and flight manual supplements with adherence to schedule and providing overall project status.
• Support design modifications, Engineering Change Orders, general analysis, hardware testing and prototype development. Develops Project Logistics Plans, and supports design reviews and meetings.
• Assist on installation activities, planning installation/repair modification data in drawing packages; modifies existing off-the shelf products to comply to company needs and produce documentation of modifications
• Check Mechanical drawings & schematics as generated by Designers/Drafters.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education & Experience
• Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or design engineering/drafting technical school; and 10-15 years’ directly related experience with aircraft mechanical systems and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis on aircraft systems.
• Ability to Interpret and use aircraft manufacture’s maintenance manuals, equipment installation instructions, and wiring diagrams
• Knowledge of test equipment
• Understanding of FAA certification processes, aircraft operations, and electrical/communication and navigation systems
Skills
• Good troubleshooting technique skills
• Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, ability to prioritize and multi-task and meet deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Computer Skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, Access and Outlook
• Prior technical knowledge, training and experience in Solidworks, with a minimum designation of Associate.
