E-Drive Integration Engineer

PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking an E-Drive Integration Engineer in Auburn Hills, MI.


  • E-Motor hubs packaging verification, and release for prototype and production to specific customer applications.
  • Verifies torque control, power management, and thermal management of the E-Motor hubs and e-drive system.
  • Testing and validation of motor control and motor sensor subsystem requirements.
  • Diagnoses and corrects deficiencies in designs and prototypes.
  • Understands test machine requirements and instrumentation.
  • Support for motor control and motor sensing subsystem analysis, modeling, and design.
  • Design and optimizes the e-drive system including packaging and development of CVT in cooperation with the supplier.
  • Dynamic lean design and optimization
  • Designs and optimizes simultaneous system performance goals through requirements flow down.
  • Effectively integrates all aspects of a design using multi-disciplinary engineering.
  • Understands and creates system and subsystem specifications.
  • Assists in maintaining cost controls.
  • Familiar with preliminary analysis and simulation to detect stresses conditions on subsystems and on component design level.
  • Experience with design, development, validation and integration.
  • Basic skills in analysis and simulation parameters to set up through the CAD models. Familiar with the mains manufacturing processes: sand casting, die casting, injection plastic components, sheet metal forming, gravity casting.

Qualifications / Education:
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering required with emphasis in electric machines and drives, magnetic sensing subsystems, embedded systems, and/or electromagnetics preferred.
  • Five years’ experience working with e-drive systems.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of design and simulation tools (e.g. Catia V5, NX,) is required.
  • Able to generate 3D math models and 2D prints for complex parts.
  • General competency in all core fields (electronics, electromagnetics, computer hardware and software) is preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving techniques.
  • Knowledge of system synthesis, analysis and verification techniques.
  • Good organization and documentation abilities.
  • Must be able to view a computer screen or monitor for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
