Mechanical Engineer - Defect Investigator - Automotive

Description:
One of the world's leading heavy truck manufacturers is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join their team for a potential contract to hire position! We are looking for an outgoing individual who is solution orientated, has excellent organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills. In addition, have the proven ability to accomplish tasks with the highest standards of ethics. Also, they should have a proven track record of developing strong working relationships with employees and senior level managers.

Job Duties

Conduct safety and emissions defect and noncompliance investigations, fact finding, technical analysis, and reporting based on inquiries raised by regulatory agencies and internal to the Client.
Conduct, analyze and review warranty data seeks to identify potential emission and safety issues, and perform production data seeks to identify affected vehicles.
Produce drawings and documents in response to inquiries.
Prepare emission and safety compliance documents needed for approval of proposed recalls and filing of same with government agencies. i.e., EPA, NHTSA, and Transport Canada.
Analyze and submit mandatory reports to government agencies.
Prepare graph presentations to present findings
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (prefer mechanical or electrical)
3-5 years of experience (unless the worker has previous Client experience then the Manager is ok with less experience)
Quality and/or Defect compliance background
Automotive industry experience highly preferred
We are looking for an outgoing individual who is solution oriented, has excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving skills, and writing skills. In addition, have the proven ability to accomplish tasks with the highest standards of ethics.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and able to work with limited supervision, be very detailed orientated and will be required to investigate every assigned case with the intention of becoming thoroughly knowledgeable on the issue under investigation.
Strong analytical skills
Effective interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others
Ability to prepare and submit required compliance documentation to government, with strong writing skills required.

Preferred qualifications:

Substantial knowledge of heavy-duty vehicle and engine safety and emission control systems, or hold commercial driver’s license (CDL), or have the ability to obtain a CDL.
Prior experience with warranty Analysis or other similar data analysis.
Legal and/or regulatory experience would be considered advantageous.
Physical ability to navigate and inspect various safety related components on a commercial vehicle required for investigations.

Hours: Mon - Fri 8am - 5pm
Duration: 6+ months (possibility to extend or turn permanent)
