Flight Test Software and Telemetry Engneer

Description:
General Summary:
Candidate will be part of the flight test team and be responsible for all telemetry aspects of getting aircraft data from the Aircraft On-Board Data Acquisition System to the flight test, and engineering, groups at HACI. The candidate will also be responsible for coordination of the ground station configuration with the on-board DAS configuration for multiple test aircraft.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and program the Data Acquisition System made by ACRA Control.
- Develop and program the Ground Station data display and analysis systems using IADS (from Symvionics).
- Manage the telemetry system, including routine setup.
- Operate the Telemetry Ground Station, and support operational testing of the flight test aircraft. This will entail operational testing out of the Greensboro facility, as well as off-site testing as required.
- Manage and program the database used to maintain the aircraft data system configuration, and to document the parameters used in testing (MS Access/Oracle/SAP).
- Develop special purpose subroutines for decommutation of raw parameters (MS Visual Studio).
- Develop custom tools to assist in data analysis.
- Maintaining existing as well as new flight test data and managing the distribution of that data

Education, Work Experience, Certification and/or Licensure:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent work experience, minimum 3 years direct/related experience.
- Must have experience in programming languages (XML); preferred languages include Active X, Visual Basic, Visual C
- Knowledge of IRIG-106 structure and programming methods preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with Data Acquisition Systems operation & management, and data display and analysis programs. ACRA and IADS experience is a plus.
- Working knowledge of instrumentation sensors, and aviation related data busses (communications protocols, data structures, physical interface requirements).
- Working knowledge of traditional PCM methods, frame map construction, and IRIG-106 methods and standards.
- Familiarity with RF, and GPS, tracking methods of antenna operation.
- Programming experience in MS Visual Basic for Applications.
- Programming experience in Active X, Visual C++ and Visual Studio.
