Retrofit Supervisor (Automotive)

  • Ability to inspect, repair, modify, maintain, and diagnose any and all product and equipment problems in Luxury SUV’s and Sedan’s vehicles (including series and pre-production vehicles).
  • Assist engineers with troubleshooting interior, exterior, mechanical and electronic vehicle systems.
  • Can use Mercedes-Benz specialized tooling, basic auto workshop equipment/tools.
  • Can use workshop management system to document repairs, parts replaced, etc.
  • Ability to work with electronic diagnostic equipment and computer-based reference material.
  • Use STAR Diagnosis and Mercedes-Benz Workshop Information System (WIS) for diagnosis.
  • Performs wheel alignments, tire mounting and balancing.
  • Diagnose and repair all aspects of automobile mechanical, electrical, a/c-heat and drivability problems.
  • Identifies, resolves, and documents potential resolutions and issues.

  • Tracks budget achievement and costs.
  • Contributes to the development and growth of team members.
  • Works closely with other departments on the production/repair process.
  • Manages projects as well as collaborates with other supervisors on optimization of the repair process.
  • Ensures that the expected level of safety, quality, quantity, and deadlines of the production process are met.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant regulations, directives, and work agreements.
  • Leads regularly scheduled area of responsibility team meetings.
  • Will perform other duties as assigned.

Necessary Skills/Certification:
  • ASE Certified Technician in all vehicle systems or equivalent experience
  • 5 years automobile diagnostic and service experience
  • Strong planning and coordination skills with a willingness to work in a team environment
  • Strong time management skills and demonstrated proficiency in, MS Office Applications, Star Diagnosis, and Automatic Data Processing (ADP)
  • Escalate critical project relevant topics to the appropriate level
  • Ensure required timing of evaluations and goals are met to provide excellent customer service
  • Professional interpersonal skills  

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of SAP PPA, EPC, Dialogue.  
  • Mercedes-Benz Advanced Service Training ASE Master certification or German Meister equivalent.
  • Experience with MB Workshop Information System (WIS), ASRA Labor Time Guide, STAR Tech Info, Enhanced Diagnostic Assistance Center (EDAC)
  • Familiar with MB function groups, damage codes, failure types, part numbers.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be willing to stand on feet for all hours of shift.
  • Must be willing walk frequently during shift.
  • Must constantly bend, stoop, kneel, and crawl in, around, or under vehicles.
  • Must frequently communicates defects to MBUSI and/or MB Tech personnel.
  • Must be able to effectively detect defects in, around, or under vehicle.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds alone, may be asked to lift 50 pounds (with team lift) occasionally
