Job Summary:

Provide reliability assessment and support for in-service aircraft with active operators. Applicant should have relevant airline, Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) in-service support experience. Solutions consist of the engineering evaluation and support documentation suitable for FAA and customer approval for reliability, modifications, Airworthiness Directives (AD’s), Service Bulletins (SB’s), and other similar process promoting continuing reliable and safe airline operations. Duties will include management of task assignments as directed from a Project Lead or Engineering Management. Developing and substantiating engineering documentation, evaluation, and assessments; providing assistance and training for less-experienced engineering staff, and interacting with different members of internal and external organizations.

Job Duties:

• Develop and implement solutions to reliability driven dependability issues affecting the ongoing lifecycle management of a large aircraft in service
• Act as primary focal for activities of Reliability and Services Engineering staff at the discretion of the Project Lead Engineer and Engineering Management
• Review and highlight aircraft, engine/APU, and components performance and ensure preventive actions are set to improve performance and airworthiness
• Interface directly with customer regarding the concerns, issues, and solutions effecting specific aircraft fleets
• Produce technical analysis of reliability issues for which approval can be obtained to ensure compliance with all appropriate regulatory, customer, OEM, client, operations, and maintenance requirements
• Evaluate and implement SB’s; advise customer on impacts, scheduling, and associated costs
• Prepare reports for customer based on research on subjects such as (but not limited to): AD’s, reliability driven maintenance initiatives, & SB’s
• Generate, monitor, and drive to closure Engineering Service Requests (ESR’s)
• Ensure and confirm that all applicable customer, OEM, regulatory, and maintenance requirements are met
• Monitor and approve engineering use of Customer, OEM, and other technical data to ensure compliance with all appropriate regulations and requirements
• Communicate engineering and technical recommendations and ideas clearly through technical writing and group presentations in a manner that can be received and interpreted by all levels of an organizational structure
• Position may require overnight travel, being on-call, and responding to technical AOG situations during off hours
• Position may require being assigned to alternative shifts such as Day, Night, Swing, and Weekends in order to support programs or installations

Authority:

The individual in this position may initiate technical instructions that are substantiated by data acceptable to or approved by the FAA and EASA or equivalent; for technical instruction pertaining to work accomplished on aircraft or components operated under CFR Part 91, 121, and 145, authority is as specified by the air carrier's procedures and/or client Repair Station Manual.

Safety Responsibility:

The individual in this position will observe all company, health, safety, and environmental rules at client, ensures that employees have full information on their area specific safety issues, all unique hazards identified, and the individual is provided with the proper equipment to carry out their job in a safe manner. Also, the entire work area must be maintained to a high standard of housekeeping and low incidence of physical hazards and all accidents must be promptly reported to your supervisor or manager.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering desired with a minimum of two (2) years relevant aerospace experience or 6 years of equivalent aircraft design experience required
• Knowledge of Structural Repair Manuals (SRMs), Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMMs), Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPCs), SB’s, AD’s and other associated aircraft reference materials
• Knowledge of aircraft and powerplant systems, components, and design
• Knowledge of aircraft fleet obsolescence management and practices
• Knowledge of OEM customer / supplier secure business web interface tools (i.e. MyBoeingFleet / Airbus World)
• Knowledge of air carrier maintenance management software (i.e. TRAX, Wizard, or similar)
• Strong PC skills will include e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, communications, operating systems, and basic computer drafting skills
• Familiarity with 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools
• Must be adaptable and flexible at all times and apply their knowledge and skills to develop creative solutions to a wide variety of unique design, modification, and repair problems encountered
• Familiar understanding regulatory requirements for airworthiness, for the FAA and various foreign authorities (EASA, etc.) and include in engineering and regulatory documents, drawings, and designs
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in an environment where limited standardization exists
• Ability to fully comprehend and promote the policies / procedures of client, and client engineering
• Ability to recognize and apply the policies / procedures of all customer(s)
• Ability to interpret and use aircraft manufacturing, assembly, and installation drawings.
• Assertive communication skills are required
• May be required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
