Duties: The Project/Product Engineer classifications are responsible for engineering design and overall coordination of various Company engineering projects. These positions are responsible for assuring that delivered products meet Company and contractual requirements for engineering design. They prepare design development plans, in conjunction with Program Management, which define and allocate requirements; implement design and analysis tasks, special tasks, experiments and hardware/software/test requirements; define, prepare and evaluate program technical risk in relation to resources and capabilities to meet requirements based on input from functional engineering organizations; perform project coordination within engineering and interface with manufacturing, quality, test, procurement, and program activities in assigned areas to ensure the program plan is attained; and balance the program technical scope with cost and schedule. Ensures integrated concept selection and technical issue resolution through rigorous multi-disciplinary trade evaluations. Defines, drives, and communicates schedule performance, affordability targets, and technical compliance internally and with external suppliers.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.

Depending on the location of the position, visual certification requirement may apply.

Skills: Knowledge of:


Pertinent codes, rules, and regulations related to areas of engineering assignments


Use of engineering test equipment, CAD, and computer applications with various office and engineering software applications


Systems Engineering principles in Requirements and Risk management


Familiarity with standard engineering tools and practices


Computerized control systems and instrumentation.


Theories, principles and practices of engineering and project management methods.


Principles of budget techniques and monitoring


Industry standards and practices


Chemistry


Safety regulations, principles and practices of work safety


Cost Account Management process and procedures


Ability to:


Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing


Read and interpret specifications and technical drawings.


Interpret and evaluate engineering problems and statements


Use a variety of test and measurement equipment to interpret data


Conduct technical and programmatic risk assessments


Balance technical scope, customer expectations, and business interests


Synthesize program and technical requirements necessary to achieve complex technical objectives


Effectively plan and coordinate schedules, cost, and work flow


Identify, plan, and monitor priorities


Lead teams and operate effectively in a team environment


Write clear and accurate technical reports


Make effective oral presentations


Apply state-of-the-art technologies


Understand and interpret regulations and their impact on the Company's operations


Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
