Job Description
Senior Systems Security Engineer to provide product support for the USAF Cyber Resiliency Office for Weapon Systems (CROWS) in the area of Systems Security Engineering (SSE) and Cyber Resiliency.

Government Contract - Opportunity for contract-to-hire based on worker performance, worker attendance and dependability and client business needs.

This position will focus on ensuring cyber security and resiliency is incorporated in the weapons systems acquisition process via the Systems Engineering (SE) process. The contractor shall support development of SSE artifacts and acquisition templates for inclusion in SE processes. The contractor will assist in the development of a requirements construct to help USAF programs interpret and scope system security, acquisition security, and cybersecurity and resilience requirements. The contractor will leverage NIST security controls, space certification, and other inputs to inform system security requirements. The contractor will perform technical analyses, conduct research, and use technical management principles to assess impacts to DoD and USAF systems engineering and acquisition policies and processes; and provide recommendations for improvement. The contractor will be experienced and successful at solving complex process integration and system engineering issues, enjoy working in a dynamic, responsive, and collaborative environment, and dedicated to the success of our customers. Work location is at Los Angeles AFB in Los Angeles, CA and sit within Space and Missile Systems Cybersecurity office.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience: A Bachelor's degree and ten to twelve (10-12) years of experience is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Candidate should have a foundational understanding of DoD weapon system acquisition and system Life Cycle Systems Engineering processes. Position requires technical background in development, management or acquisition of Air Force Space Systems and/or software. Position requires expertise and experience in systems security engineering in one or more security specialty areas, such as Cybersecurity, Cyber Resilience, Anti-Tamper protection, Supply Chain Risk Management, Trusted Systems and Networks, Software Assurance, and Hardware Assurance.

Other required skills include: Interviewing skills, to talk with individuals and groups about their needs and ask the right questions to surface essential requirements information; Listening skills, to understand what people say and to detect what they might be hesitant to say; Analytical skills, to critically evaluate the information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a more general understanding, distinguish presented user requests from the underlying true needs, and distinguish solution ideas from requirements; Facilitation skills, to lead requirements elicitation workshops; Observational skills, to validate data obtained via other techniques and expose new areas for elicitation; Writing skills, to communicate information effectively to customers, marketing, managers, and technical staff; Organizational skills, to work with the vast array of information gathered during elicitation and analysis and to cope with rapidly changing information; Interpersonal skills, to help negotiate priorities and to resolve conflicts among project stakeholders (such as customers, product management, and engineering).

Preferred Skills: Master’s degree in Systems Engineering with seven to twelve (7-12) years of experience is preferred. Broad understanding of systems engineering; a broad understanding of security; a technology specific understanding (e.g., networked systems, Commercial Off the Shelf/Government Off the Shelf and Developmental component integration); and broad understanding of Air Force space system acquisition across the entire acquisition process.

The selected applicant should have knowledge of Air Force Assessment and Authorization (A&A) cybersecurity process and current DoD cyber security requirements.
