Description:
The Product Engineer is usually assigned direct engineering responsibility for a variety of production programs. For mature production programs the Product Engineer has full design responsibility for the product. The Product Engineer is responsible for implementing the transfer of development programs to the production environment. Work assignments require some originality and unreviewed action. The incumbent will receive program and technical guidance from the department supervisory personnel. The Product Engineer is responsible for the supervision and technical guidance of all direct reporting engineering technicians.

The incumbents' activities have a significant impact on production. It is their responsibility to inform the appropriate management and support functions of events which may affect quality, schedule, or cost. In addition, the incumbent is expected to organize and guide the affected disciplines to address changes/problems in a manner that minimizes the impact on production. To perform this function the Product Engineer must coordinate production technical and transfer efforts with a variety of Moog departments, typically including the following:

Drafting
Design Engineering
Project Engineering
Quality Engineering
Manufacturing (Methods) Engineering
Materials and Process Engineering
Test Equipment Engineering
Environmental Test Engineering
Reliability and Safety Engineering
Computer Integrated Manufacturing
Production Control
Program Management
Sales and Contract Administration
Model Shop/Development A&T
Production Manufacturing, A&T, and Inspection

In summary the Product Engineer is a focal point for resolving all questions/problems concerning the design, manufacture, assembly and test of production hardware. The incumbent initiates changes and deviations to the design or specification requirements. They are the primary contact for customers, vendors, and internal Moog personnel on all technical problems and questions. The incumbent frequently functions in the manner of a program manager, on technical problems, coordinating Moog resources for the solution of a problem and communicating timely information to the affected groups within Moog and to the customer/supplier levels
BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
2-3 years of relevant experience required
Experience writing A&T instructions
Experience with Matlab or Labview
Hands on experience with hydraulics
