Supplier Development Engineer

Description:
Job Title: Supplier Development Engineer
Location: Remote with travel (40% travel within US, Mexico, and some Canada)
Ideal candidate locations: (Texas, Midwest)
Pay Rate: $45-65/hour, full time, direct position with benefits.

In this job you can expect to travel to supplier locations and act as a liaison and consultant to develop and execute manufacturing & engineering strategies, evaluate and implement corrective action, and track and analyze process for quality assurance. Great matching candidates will have an engineering degree and/or equivalent work experience as an engineer and project manager focused on supplier development, manufacturing, process development, quality, and supply chain.

Supplier Development Engineer job duties:
* Act as a Liaison to customer management for the supplier.
* Troubleshoot, evaluate, and make suggestions to improve the manufacturing process.
* Communicate and interact with shop floor personnel, quality/process teams, customer
* management team, engineering, etc. and involve other personnel in the process as needed.
* Use quality tools to develop strategic objectives and tactical implementation for different process elements to improve, measure, monitor supplier performance.
* Improve supplier performance (i.e. quality, delivery and costs) through process optimization using process analysis and development tools by driving continuous improvement within supplier operations through deployment of development plans.
* Establish and maintain a qualified and preferred supply base.
* Assess and communicate technical risks and mitigation associated with the supply base.
* Design and maintain forms for recording, evaluating and reporting quality and delivery of supplier products.
* Work independently on multiple projects to solve problems of various degrees of complexity and lead projects to improve supplier performance creating development plans for key suppliers.
* Works with suppliers and client engineering functions on value engineering activities.
* Administers Supplier Corrective Action system and works with suppliers to resolve/correct quality and delivery problems.
* Responsible for detecting, investigating, leading, and driving down complex supplier issues.

Core Qualifications:
* Ability to travel as needed (up to 50&) in North America (United States, Mexico, Canada).
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, Supply Chain
* Three or more plus years of experience in an engineering or technical project management role
* Experience managing projects and implementing corrective action on production floors, machine shop floors, or engineering settings
* Multi-lingual (especially English and Spanish).
* Legal authorization to work in the US required.
