Manufacturing Engineer

Description:
General Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer position is responsible for the creation of planning, sequencing and designing.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Supports work specific to detail parts manufacturing and assembly operations within a manufacturing environment.
2. Develops documentation and procedures to ensure compliance specific to customer, and regulatory production requirements and specifications.
3. Develops solutions for production problems relating to materials, manufacturing processes and/or the right tooling.
4. Interprets engineering drawings to determine requirements meet objectives. Acts as liaison between design engineering, tooling department, machine shop, metal bond shop, composites and plastics shop, tube shop, manufacturing graphics department, quality and the production floor.
5. Analyzes statistical data including process capability studies, tests capability studies, and through-put rates.
6. Provides technical support and assistance with the development and improvement of methods, quality product design, cost, and technical issues of a complex manner as required.
7. Plans and documents various installation processes, tooling, equipment and quality control methods to optimize the manufacturing operation.
8. Ensures completed tasks have been performed and inspected in accordance with company standards. Identifies and corrects all production and manufacturing issues.
9. Prepares assembly data sheet and updates planning data sheets. Assist with BOM identification and control. Prepares and monitors tool orders and first article inspection sheets.
10. Details and assembles methods planning and tool manufacturing planning.

Education, Experience, Certification and/or Licensure:
1. Bachelors' degree in Manufacturing Engineer or other related field strongly preferred.
2. In lieu of education one year of direct aircraft experience potentially may be substituted for each year of college.
3. 5+ years experience in aerospace industry in aerospace manufacturing.
4. Six Sigma Training (Minimum Green Belt Certification – highly preferred).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Strong analytical skills.
2. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and/or specifications requirements.
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
4. Excellent problem solving skills.
5. Ability to work in a diverse environment.
6. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
7. Some experience utilizing tools such as SAP, CAD CAM, CATIA, Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Lotus Notes).
8. Ability to multitask.
9. Strong organizational skills.
10. Working knowledge of aircraft assembly, sequencing and manufacturing flow.
11. Working knowledge of or exposure to Lean Manufacturing tools.

Physical Requirements:
1. Incumbents may be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise heat-cold-dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors.
2. Incumbents may be required to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
3. Work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, and Federal regulations, etc.).
4. Read, hear, speak, and see with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
5. Comprehend and adhere to management directions and/or safety instructions with no restrictions.
6. Effectively communicate in Business English language.
7. Pull, push, carry, lift, or move items up to 10 lbs. throughout the work shift without assistance, as required by job duties.
8. Pull, push, carry, lift or move materials/people/items/equipment weighing up to 50lbs or more during the work shift, with the use of Company provided “reach assistance technology” or “movement assist technology” (fork-lifts, pallet jacks, pulleys, dolly’s, robotics reach equipment, people movers etc.), as required by job duties.
