Systems Safety Engineer

Description:
What you will do:
• Our System Safety Engineering consultants are experts in system safety methodologies and tools. Additionally, they have complex product and system development experience, with skills in systems engineering, technical project management, and team leadership. They are proactive self-starters who and can orient to new situations quickly and apply logical problem-solving skills to solve customers’' most challenging issues. Successful Base2 System Safety Engineering consultants typically have a foundation in systems design and have extensive experience in most phases of the product development life cycle.

The nature of our systems engineering work and assignments vary depending on the specific customer engagements; our immediate needs are in the aerospace development field.

What you will be responsible for:
• Perform safety analyses (Architecture Safety Assessments, Hazards Analysis, Failure Modes Effects Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, System Safety Risk Assessment, etc.)
• Document results of safety analyses and risk assessments
• Coordinate System Safety products for multiple subsystems to ensure consistency and complete coverage
• Provide advice and counsel on pertinent safety-related regulations, standards, and processes
• Contribute and add value to client projects in the areas of requirements analysis and management; system architecture and design; system integration, system verification and validation; technical program management, cross-functional leadership, technical issue resolution, or product management
• Use systems engineering principles to develop an approach tailored to the need, the system, the customer, and the development organization
• Develop and nurture long term customer relationships
• Recognize client needs that may lead to additional opportunities for Base2
• Keep abreast of current and new technologies and tools related to your field (e.g. Agile development methods, Model-Based Systems Engineering, etc.)

What is required to do the job:
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or related scientific degree
• 4+ years systems safety analysis experience in a safety-critical environment
• Experience generating system safety documentation, especially fault tree analyses
• Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS Next Generation (DNG)
• Experience working in complex system development and/or sustaining projects in a technical and/or system engineering capacity
• Proficiency in Systems Engineering and Project Management methods and practical application
• Must be a US Person

Ideal candidates also have:
• Experience working in regulated industries (e.g. aerospace, defense, medical device)
• Knowledge of hardware, software, or system certification processes
• Aptitude to work collaboratively and drive consensus and alignment within and across organizational boundaries
• Ability to influence executives, key-decision-makers and highly technical resources.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Master's Degree in engineering, the Sciences, or Business Administration
