Inclusion & Diversity Manager


PDS Tech is seeking candidates for an Inclusion & Diversity Manager position in Herndon, VA

Position Summary:

As a member of the Develop team, the Inclusion & Diversity Manager will drive the ongoing development of the Inclusion & Diversity strategy for the Company in North America and will undertake the actions to fulfill the strategy. The focus of this role will include, supporting a diverse and inclusive approach to talent management, succession planning, recruitment, leadership and all employee development interventions as well as external partnerships with suppliers and inclusion and diversity groups. The role holder will also oversee the Company's Employee Resource Groups providing encouragement and support as they fulfill their mission.


This will be achieved by working with the relevant HR teams and functional areas globally in the Company as well as the local leadership population in order to effectively deploy the global strategy within the local culture. The job holder will use internal and external best practices, by benchmarking with our peers, customers and competitors in the industry as well as non-aerospace industry related organizations who are recognized as achieving greatness in the area of inclusion and diversity, to develop, facilitate and assess initiatives, processes and practices to cultivate in the short, medium and long term a diverse and inclusive culture for the Company in NA specifically and the Company generally.

The external focus of this activity will address how we are perceived within our communities, geographically, by our industry peers and customer communities, to ensure that our external actions not only compliment but enhance our internal and external perception and are in line with our overall strategy for Inclusion and Diversity.

The activity will also include working with other functions to connect externally, i.e. Supplier Development, Government Relations, etc. It is critical that the perception of our company is aligned with our internal culture and focus and has a direct link to our commercial success in the US market.

The role holder will assist with the organization of a diversity board for the Company in North America made up of one senior leader from each of the three major businesses, VP Develop and VP HR North America. The role of the board is to make decisions on behalf of the company in all matters relating to inclusion and diversity.


Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:


  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience


  • 3 plus years of business experience required in the field of Inclusion & Diversity
  • 2 plus years of experience managing projects


  • Advanced certifications in Human Resources required and Project Management preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Knowledge of building and operationalizing a strategy in a complex environment
  • Ability to influence, inspire, and engage
  • Ability to work in a highly organized and self-directed manner
  • Strong team working skills
  • Excellent judgment and decision making capability
  • Demonstrated success implementing large scale corporate programs
  • Project management skills and familiarity with different project management approaches
  • Thorough understanding of the impact culture can have on organizational success

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English, with a strong ability to influence and negotiate with others
  • Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences
  • French, German, or Spanish language skills are highly desired but not a requirement

Travel Required:

  • < 30% Domestic, which could increase at a later time

With the exception of the VIE program, there is significant overlap between the above listed team components. In order to accomplish the goals of the Develop team, the Inclusion & Diversity Manager will own one of the nine listed responsibilities, working in concert with other members of the Develop team in order to accomplish their goals.

There will also be a need to closely collaborate with colleagues in the global HR community in order to remain at the forefront of the Develop team's area of focus and responsibility.

Involved communication on a daily basis with internal and external parties

Physical Requirements:

  • Candidate should be comfortable working at a computer for extended periods of time in an office environment
  • Candidate should be able to attend relevant conventions and corporate outreach opportunities, which may occur outside on uneven surfaces and require overnight travel.
