Job Description:

Must have Skills: Knowledge of Open Source frameworks and tools: Jenkins, Spring, Hibernate, Eclipse, Mule, Maven, Drools and others In-depth knowledge of Java (J2SE and J2EE), XML (XSD, XSLT, XPath), HTML, CSS/JavaScript, SQL, and Web Services

•Able to complete task with minimal supervision, the Sr Technical Software Developer provides knowledge and experience to support Technology and governance in software development.
•The Sr. Technical Software Developer is responsible to lead the design efforts for product enhancements as well as for the resolution of complicated architectural software issues related to insurance solutions and is an integral part of CompSuite implementation and base development teams leading the development and establishment of pragmatic, quality-oriented software engineering best practices.
•The Sr. Technical software developer will be a key member of the development team responsible for designing systems and their software components, coding, unit testing, and delivering critically important and or high impact items.
•The role will require working directly with other developers and client-facing personnel.
•The position requires extensive knowledge and experience of both commercial and open source components such as application servers, enterprise service buses, rules engines, component frameworks, messaging libraries, etc and a solid understanding of the Java EE computing platform, UML, design patterns, data modeling and database design.
 
Essential Job Responsibilities:
•Collaborate with a team of professionals in designing, developing and implementing insurance application
•Provide oversight for all software-related issues
•Identifies established development patterns and approaches
•Reviews and compares architectures and designs for various solutions
•Recommends technology for the product road map
•Designs and implements re-usable software components
•Presents technical material to clients
•Mentors more-junior software development personnel
•Completes activities as directed and according to timelines
•Provides accurate estimates for analysis, design and development activities for subsystems
•Develop technical documentation for subsystem in accordance with defined software architecture and applicable project design standards
Autonomously code software from technical documentation
•Create and execute unit tests emphasizing cross-browser compatibility including Edge, Firefox, and Chrome
•Adhere to defined coding standards, UI standards, and other defined quality standards

•Review code and design from other team members and provide constructive feedback
•Adhere to project development processes including documentation, defect tracking, software configuration management, and status reporting
•Participate in and contribute to software architectural design discussions
 
Required Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Computer Science or MIS) or equivalent educational qualification
•Strong experience in designing and developing enterprise applications using Java technologies

•Technical team leadership experience
Knowledge of Open Source frameworks and tools: Jenkins, Spring, Hibernate, Eclipse, Mule, Maven, Drools and others
•Hands-on experience with the following tools: JBoss Application Server, IBM WebSphere Application Server and others
•In-depth knowledge of Java (J2SE and J2EE), XML (XSD, XSLT, XPath), HTML, CSS/JavaScript, SQL, and Web Services
•Understanding of complex multi-user issues, concurrency and transaction management
•Excellent knowledge of application servers (WebSphere, WildFly, Apache) including configuration, monitoring, and tuning
•Excellent oral and written communication skills with both internal and external personnel – able to present designs, and facilitate design discussion
•Knowledge of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle), development methodologies, development patterns, web-enabled applications and Inversion of Control


Preferred Qualifications:
•Insurance Domain experience – 4+ years preferred
•Development experience – 8+ years preferred
•OO Analysis and Design – 8+ years preferred
•Java and related environments – 8+ years preferred
•Java-related Development, Test and Profiling tools – 8+ years preferred


Pluses/Nice to Have:
•IBM i, SQL Server, and familiarity with Linux
•Experience with Document management systems.
•Demonstrated experience with Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) technologies (Mule experience preferred)
•Proven ability to rapidly deliver prototypes and proof-of-concept work to validate a proposed architectural approach
