Infrastructure Engineer

Description:
Title of Position: Infrastructure Engineer

Salary: Negotiable for qualified candidate

Position: Direct Hire, FTE, Full Benefits

Interview process: 2 Phone Screens to Start, followed by a Face-to-Face meeting.

Location: Southfield MI as a base. Candidate will be asked to travel to 6 different plants in the Detroit metro area. Mileage will be paid to the employee. Saginaw, Sterling Heights, Shelby, etc.



Experience: 5 years + as an Engineer, 8 -10 year as a IT Infrastructure professional



Basic Responsibilities: 2nd and 3rd level support of the organization's corporate infrastructure and all of its hardware/software components. Including both design and installation of hardware/software. Strong network experience is a must. The client uses Cisco network/products at their local plants.



Responsibilities include:

Demonstrating ownership of IT systems and processes by taking responsibility for operational availability of a secure, effective and reliable computing environment that meets or exceeds staff and business requirements.

  • Following emerging technologies, standards, and developments within the industry to assist in planning and purchases for increased system capacity to meet the needs of a company growing both in size and in technical needs.

  • Continuously monitoring and evaluating existing IT controls and procedures to ensure all risks are known and mitigated to an acceptable level in both production and non-production environments.

  • Daily support of on-premises platforms running VMware

  • Maintains systems and technology at or above industry standards.

  • Configure and maintain the organization's internal computer network, mainly Cisco Firewalls, Switches and Spam filters.

  • Proactively monitoring server health in a production environment to ensure any failure can be responded to quickly and with minimum downtime

  • Experience working with VMware, Active Directory, GPO's, and O365

  • Providing Tier 2 and 3 level user and hardware support of Windows based network systems


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/Network Engineering/Information Technology required, Bachelor's preferred (comparable IT certifications will be considered).

  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience Configuring, managing and troubleshooting firewalls, routers and Switches, knowledge of Cisco firewalls and switches highly desired

  • Knowledge of core IT infrastructure and systems including LAN/WAN networking including routers, switches and firewalls, and SAN storage

  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server environment

  • Knowledge of VMWARE virtualization in server environment

  • Knowledge of Active Directory & GPO's

  • Knowledge of O365

  • Any past experience migrating from on premise infrastructure to IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS model would be a 'plus' but not needed to get the job

  • Backup experience

  • Knowledge of enterprise anti-virus

  • Advanced ability to analyze system logs

  • Ability to work tasks with little supervision or assistance

  • Must consent to a full background check, including a drug screen
