My client is looking for a Propulsion Systems Design Engineer for rockets. This is a contract position. Location is the Denver Tech Center.

Propulsion Systems Design Engineer

Job Description
This engineering function provides engineering design, systems integration, subcontract management, product technical support and anomaly resolution for the Propulsion fluids systems (cryogenic, non-cryogenic, hydraulics and pneumatics).
• Develops system and component designs and requirements to satisfy overall propulsion systems requirements.
• The position requires mechanical design capability as well as understanding dynamic, structural and fluids analysis concepts.
• Must have the capability to perform system integration and perform system level trade studies to optimize designs for manufacturing, producibility and performance.
• Generates engineering drawings as well as assembly and testing requirements.
• Provides direct support to the suppliers, the factory and the launch site to ensure production schedules are met, resolve anomalies and streamline operations to improve efficiency.
• When anomalies occur, provides causal analysis that leads to effective resolution and corrective actions that prevent recurrence.
• Reviews the as-built product (hardware and associated software) and product test data to certify that the final product configuration and performance meets requirements and is ready for test and/or flight.
• Develops design improvements that reduce cost and risk and/or improve vehicle performance.

Basic Requirements
-Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university and 10+ years experience in dynamic testing field
-Familiar with mechanical design utilizing Unigraphics, ProE, or Solidworks
-Familiar with structural, fluids and/or dynamics analysis
-Goal oriented with an acute attention to detail
-A team player with the ability to adapt within a dynamic working environment
-Ability to work extended hours, off shifts and weekends
-Familiar with electro-dynamic shaker systems to include operational and maintenance requirements
-Familiar with impact shock systems to include resonant beam/air cannon
-Able to manage workflow and schedule of testing within the lab

Preferred Qualifications
-Proficient in mechanical design utilizing Unigraphics, ProE, or Solidworks
-Experience in analysis (fluids, structural and dynamics)
-Experience in performing testing to include but not limited to, random vibration, force limited random vibration, sine on random vibration, modal identification, beam impact shock and shaker shock
-Experience in Signal processing, instrumentation, signal conditioning, data acquisition and vibration and shock fixture design
-Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project)


The location is Denver.

The rate is open. The duration is 11+ months.
