General Summary: 
 
The Oxygen System Cognizant Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise in support of the Oxygen System through all phases of project schedule including preliminary design, detailed design, development, certification, sustaining, production and product support.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee and coordinate Oxygen System project activities through all phases of the project including preliminary design, detailed design, development, certification, production and in-service product support
Interface with other company departments, FAA and suppliers to ensure project schedule milestones are met 
Actively support the development of company infrastructure
Maintain consolidated Engineering Parts List (EPL), weight status and cost status for the Oxygen System
Support design, manufacturing (production), in-service and flight test activities
Maintain and present to management integrated project schedule and status for layouts, ICD’s, drawings, development tests, certification tests, flight test plans, ITF tests related to the Oxygen System and plans/status to resolve flight test, manufacturing and in-service issues
Track and report status of action items related to design, development, certification, sustaining, in-service and flight test related to the Oxygen System
Provide support as required in other areas of the Mechanical Systems 2 team that includes bleed air systems, air conditioning, waste system, and ice and rain protection systems
 
Qualifications
 
Education, Work Experience, Certification and/or Licensure:
Bachelors of Science in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four year college or university program
5+ years of directly related technical experience in the development and certification of aircraft Oxygen Systems required
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of aircraft communication buses such as ARINC 429 strongly preferred
Knowledge of FAA processes and procedures related to qualification testing required.
Knowledge of DO-160, DO-178B and DO-254 processes are required
Knowledge of 14CFR23 or 25 regulations and advisory circulars related to Oxygen and ECS regulations required
Familiarity with aircraft/aerospace wiring practices and the ability to interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schemata is preferred
Familiarity with ERP Systems such as SAP
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, Project, Lotus Notes, PowerPoint) is required
Ability to understand, prepare and review FAA certification plans
Ability to prepare detailed functional test procedures
Ability to manage projects end to end including defining project goals, creating project plans, tracking performance, analyzing project schedules, and presenting information to senior management.
Ability to establish and manage project budgets
