Contract - Senior E/I Designer (1 year long contract)

Senior E/I Designer

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Works under the direction of the overall Electrical and Controls Lead

• Develop an understanding of the project scope in order to participate in the development of the design effort

• Responsible for developing project deliverables, and spot checking the output of other staff designers when assigned

• Responsible for reporting on current task status to the lead engineer and providing weekly or bi-weekly reports of progress

• Ensure that the technical content of all assigned design deliverables meet quality expectations; ensure drawings and designs are produced within the assigned timeframes; raise any gaps or potential problems for resolution immediately upon identification

• Monitor assigned design activities to assure conformance with company work instructions and SOPs; ensure adherence to client and/or company specifications, governing codes and good design practice

• Coordinate and cooperate with the other disciplines as directed to ensure the smooth flow of all Control Systems design information on the project task force, and to ensure alignment with project requirements

• Performs drafting of all types of Electrical and Controls drawings

• Functional skills in the use of SmartPlant® review or other 3D model review programs

• Provide drawing layout and design development, applying industry and client standards and codes

• Assist on 3D modelling

• A good working understanding of materials and material specification

• Assist in the development of Total Installed Cost (TIC) and engineering estimates

• Interact with our work-share offices, provide coordination

• Continues development of their technical knowledge, skills and potential

Qualifications:

• Associates degree in Electrical with 5+ years drafting/design experience or 6+ years drafting design or related experience without a degree

• Experience in oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical, and/or polymer plant design

• Current knowledge of industry work processes, administrative practices as well as familiarity with the various project phases and the scope/deliverables required for each

• Expanding knowledge base in DCS/PLC/SIS system wiring practices, installation practices, location plan development, Single lines, motor schematics, and construction support

• Database Instrumentation tool experience (SPI/InTools, AVEVA, others) preferred

• Functional skills with ACAD and/or MicroStation

• Development of skills in 3D modeling, including use of laser scan

• Functional Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

• Functional understanding of the Estimating Systems

• Good understanding of the NEC and industry standards

Other Essential Functions & Requirements:

• Good oral and written communication

• Keen safety awareness

• Able to operate well in a multi-discipline team environment

• Continue to develop skills in interaction with clients and vendors

• Able to perform job walks wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in an operating facility in a hot climate

Will receive 6 national holidays and one way reporting travel
