Engineering Technician

PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Technician in South Bend, IN.

  • • Ability to read basic electrical/instrumentation drawings and schematics

    • Some experience in test support and documentation.

    • Have practical experience working with engineering equipment

    • Systematic troubleshooting skills and recognition of when outside assistance is required

    • Organized work habits and the application of 5S principles

    • Sound technical judgment of high priority and critical items and opinions that needs to be reported to the upper management for decision making.

    • Good interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively with other individuals in a team or project setting.

    • Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done, do things before being asked by others or forced to by events.

    • Ability to consistently make timely decisions even in the face of complexity, balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness.

We are looking at candidates that

- Have a mechanical background. You know and have used tools (auto mechanic, backyard mechanic, equipment maintenance, etc.)

- Can spot problems and maybe even troubleshoot.

- Have used a torque wrench, micrometer and scales.

- Are comfortable using computers such as email, Excel, looking up documents, etc.

- Have a conscientious and quality mindset.

What we ask of you

- Be a HS grad (or GED) minimum.

- Be a US citizen or lawful permanent resident.

- Be able to read and understand written procedures.

- Be mechanically inclined.

- Can use Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)

- Be comfortable performing a variety of tasks from pushing a broom to training to build and test brake systems.

- Be trainable.

- Be flexible for any of 3 shifts and weekends as needed.

- Be available for overtime when necessary.

What you should expect

- Perform recurring work independently

- You will rely on a computer.

- You will regularly use micrometers, torque wrenches and scales.

- You will learn to document data precisely both in writing and on a computer.

- You will follow technical written procedures.

- You may be required to work an off shift or a weekend.

- You will be required to work overtime occasionally.

- You will be trained and mentored by a team leader.
