Aerodynamics Propulsion Integration Engineer

Chipton-Ross is seeking an Aerodynamics Propulsion Integration Engineer for an opening in Reno, NV.

The Aerodynamics Propulsion Integration Engineer will be responsible for supporting the aerodynamic design of the inlet and exhaust systems of the Client supersonic business jet to meet program and certification requirements. Successful candidates will have a commanding and fundamental understanding of the design and development of propulsion integration, preferably with experience developing supersonic inlets. Candidates should have expert level knowledge of the necessary physics-based trades for supersonic designs. The successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge and experience in computational fluid dynamics, analytical and theoretical performance estimation techniques, and, ideally, wind tunnel testing from low speed to high speed regimes.
Perform detailed aerodynamic design and analysis in areas of aircraft inlet shape, performance, and integration.
Design and optimize inlet aerodynamic loft using CFD and other advanced design, optimization and modeling tools.
Perform detailed aerodynamic design and analysis in areas of aircraft nozzle shape, performance, and integration.
Design and optimize inlets and nozzles as integrated elements of the aircraft using CFD and other advanced design, optimization and modeling tools.
Provide support to the various Systems and Structures IPTs in support of their development and certification.
Assist in the development of advanced aerodynamic analysis tools by providing feedback and developing requirements.
Provide support for engineering development tests, certification, and flight testing from concept to product certification.
Interact with engine supplier to help manage and meet inlet requirements and nozzle performance.

Minimum of five years of technical experience in one of the specific flight sciences areas of aircraft design, with specific and/or strong general knowledge of the other areas.
Experience in air vehicle aerodynamic design in a collaborative multi-discipline team environment.
Familiarity with HPC platforms and CFD codes
Experience with advance design tools such as MDO frameworks, as well as programming (Java, C, Fortran) and scripting (Python, Bash).
Strong technical, interpersonal, communication, administrative, and presentation skills.
Demonstrated leadership in solving technical challenges.
Experience in the development supersonic and/or business aircraft strongly desired.
Experience in aerodynamic design of inlets and/or nozzles, especially for supersonic aircraft. Experience with Overflow, Fun3D, Pointwise and Tecplot CFD tools.
Experience with CATIA.

Accredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering, or similarly related field, with a relevant advanced degree strongly preferred.
