Job Summary:

This position is responsible for development of complex mechanical and hydromechanical components and systems that will become the new products of our client. The incumbent, a fully trained professional, plans and conducts efforts requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Typically, the Product Engineer devises new approaches for the problems encountered. The Product Engineer is a key contributor to the analysis, conceptual design, development, and testing of complex control hardware used on military leading and trailing edge flap systems. The products of our client generally are unique for each customer. Therefore, most new applications require a special, tailored design, even though adaptation of existing designs always should be considered where appropriate.

Job Duties:

• The Product Engineer generally will operate as part of a design/development team, which includes other Department engineers with his/her primary concern being system or component performance and integration
• The incumbent will coordinate the work of drafters, technicians, design analysts, manufacturing engineers and others who assist in specific assignments as needed

Basic Qualifications:

• To be considered for the position of Product Engineer, a candidate should have a minimum of an BS Degree, preferably in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering plus 10 years’ of design/development engineering experience
• To fulfill the demands of design and development of new products the individual must have self-starting instincts and strong analytical skills
• Seasoned knowledge of closed loop control systems, mechanical hardware designs, and good communication skills are also necessary
• Person needs to be mechanically inclined; this will be beneficial when troubleshooting issues in the assembly line
• Experience with measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, Microsoft Office
• Experience with an MRP system, Unigraphics Nx, Teamcenter
• Must have good writing skills; the incumbent will be responsible to writing operations sheets for the manufacturing area
• Must be a team player, incumbent will be working in a team and will be coordinating with multiple operating groups within the organization

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with actuators, gears and splines preferred
• Aerospace industry experience preferred
