3+ Month Contract

Pay Rate: Open

Clearance: Active TS strongly preferred. MUST be eligible to obtain SCI. MUST have SSBI w/in the last 5 yrs (please note the date at top of resume for quick review.) Will gain cleared program access upon conversion.

Conversion: High - Intent

Knowledge/understanding of embedded software.
Experience with engineering/ops of aerospace systems.
Willingness to learn. Avoid ‘database’ and ‘windows application’ developer resumes. Avoid inactive but prior clearances w/o an active SSBI. Smallish team (10 or so), must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision, remote from peers in VA and AZ.**

As a member of a spacecraft operations team, a software/computer/electrical systems engineer is needed to participate in the development, test and operation of on-orbit systems. Collaborate within a multidisciplinary engineering team to analyze customer needs, develop a detailed understanding of system capability and implement and test software updates to fix problems and enhance the system. Knowledge of engineering process best practices and software lifecycle activities in an avionics integration and test environment is highly desirable.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in C/C++ programming and hands-on experience with the VxWorks realtime operating system. Excellent reading and writing skills are required as the candidate will be involved in the entire system lifecycle and will interact frequently with other engineering technical experts. Candidates will participate in software requirements analysis and specification, test planning from unit to system level, planning and performing software qualification tests, writing and testing operations procedures and monitoring/debugging on-orbit software performance as part of a team developing software for both existing and in-development spacecraft programs. Familiarity with common software development tools for configuration management, problem tracking and continuous integration is expected. Candidates should be self-motivated to learn and will be expected to travel to other Northrop Grumman sites on occasion for initial orientation and training.
A BS in Engineering & 5 years or Masters in Engineering & 3 years is also mandatory.
