Electrical Engineer - Sr Electrical Engineer 1

PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking a RCC_Sr Electrical Engineer 1 for an open position in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Job Title:
RFIC Layout Engineer, Advanced Radio Systems (R&D)

Job Summary:
Perform research & development and production-level integrated circuit layout for competitive differentiation and long-term growth of wireless products and systems.

The RFIC layout engineer does not have direct reports, but will direct work activities for supporting technicians, drafting, and project support staff. The RFIC layout engineer will work collaboratively with IC designers and other IC layout engineers. The RFIC layout engineer is led by the Engineering Manager for microelectronics component technology who is led by the Director for Advanced Radio Systems.

Critical Functions and Underlying Tasks:
• Layout, parasitic extraction / simulation, and design rule checks (DRC) for RF-mmWave/analog/digital mixed signal integrated microelectronic circuits for communication, navigation, radar, and electronic warfare products (includes redesign, process porting, and clean sheet designs).
• Layout printed circuit boards
• Participate in collaborative efforts to creatively solve problems in new ways
• Create presentations explaining the approach and relevance to the design
• Lead continuous improvement projects that result in new approaches and techniques to product development
• Ensures successful performance of assigned project tasks (including technical, cost, schedule, design to cost, product integrity and manufacturability)
Training and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in applicable engineering or science field, and four years of related experience, or, in the absence of a bachelor's degree, 8 years of related experience. Applicants must have or be able to obtain a United States Department of Defense clearance.

Key Competencies:
• Experience in performing layout, and tapeout using the Cadence Virtuoso tool suite is required.
• Experience in layout of integrated circuits which have been fabricated and tested in at least one of the following technologies: CMOS, RF-CMOS, SOI-CMOS, SiGe-BiCMOS. Knowledge in associated processes from Global Foundries / IBM and Tower Jazz is a plus.
• Must be able to complete meaningful work in the absence of complete specifications and help create RFIC requirements as a work in progress
• Understand fundamental layout limitations and performance impacts as they relate to design of RF circuits such as amplifiers, mixers, filters or analog circuits such as bandgaps, op-amps, current mirrors, etc.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills, and data-driven decision-making
• Experience in layout, analysis, and tapeout in RF/microwave tools such as Agilent ADS, AWR Microwave Office, Cadence, or SystemVue is a plus.
• Excellent verbal/written communication and teamwork skills
• Experience in identifying, communicating, and mitigating risks
• Knowledgeable of industry trends within his/her domain
• Demonstrated ability to work in a creative, as well a practical problem solving environment
