Electrical Engineer

Chipton Ross is looking for an Electrical Engineer for a contract assignment in El Segundo, CA.

Preparation of project Scope of Work, Rough Order of Magnitude (R.O.M.) Cost Estimates, “in-house” construction documents and interface and coordinate work with other disciplines and other departments. Be able to process plans through city Plan Check, and interface with Contractors during construction phase of the project. Process contractor’s submittals and as-builts at project completion. Must be able to develop single line diagrams, power plans, control/ladder diagrams, wiring diagrams, and interconnect block diagrams, conduit layouts, equipment plans, panel schedules, control/alarm/monitor panel layouts and component specifications. Prepare specifications for electrical equipment, hardware, conduit, cable and electrical safety regulations. Coordinate and review work of consultants. Be able to take a project from inception to construction completion.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and five or more years of progressively more responsible experience in the field of electrical engineering. Must have current working knowledge of codes and standards. Should have complete familiarity with design and engineering practices generally existing in the industry. Good written and oral communication skills are essential.

Experience in Design of Building Electrical Systems and Facilities environment is required i.e., Commercial Office, Computer Facility, R & D Labs. Must be licensed in the State of California as a Professional Electrical Engineer. Must have knowledge of current electrical (CEC/NEC) and building (CBC) codes (as they relate to building electrical systems) and standards, i.e., IEEE, NEMA. Should have complete familiarity with electrical symbols, design, building panel schedules, single line drawings and engineering practices generally existing in the building industry. Must have experience in the use of computers and knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project) and a CADD program. Proficiency in working with electronic files and filing system in E-Mail and Internet. Good written and oral communication skills are essential. Versatility to work well in both a team environment and independently with the ability to organize and prioritize all work to meet specific deadlines with minimal supervision.
