Test Lab Operations Support

Description:
Candidate should be able to act in a leadership capacity to direct daily lab operations. Be able to read, interpret and fully understand drawings that describe physical and electrical configurations of a complex avionics system. Be capable of directing touch labor / technicians that modify the configuration of the system to conform to various configuration drawings. Be capable of directly interfacing with engineering staff, and able to communicate freely across engineers, technicians, and other disciplines such as quality and manufacturing engineering. Be capable of performing operations associated with daily lab management including opening and closing of the lab, supporting test operations in the lab, supporting schedule coordination with other lab users, supporting troubleshooting of lab issues, and manning / driving the various test consoles and test equipment in support of test. Be capable of performing lab administrative activities including shipping and receiving, work order development and management, development and management of lab metrics, and execution of other diverse tasks as assigned. Have good working-together skills, able to be part of a diverse team, accepts direction well from lab manager and senior engineering staff.

Required: Engineering degree is not necessarily required so long as candidate demonstrates the requisite skills. Candidate should be proactive, self-starter who demonstrates ability to quickly learn and independently execute assigned tasking with minimal oversight. Candidate should be proficient in MS Office Suite.

Analytical Skills: Skill and ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources with clients, customers and/or suppliers.

Automatic Test Equipment: Advanced, expert knowledge in the operation, integration, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automatic test equipment and programming codes. Ability to instruct others in the operation, integration, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automatic test equipment and associated software, Test Program Sets (TPS), and programming codes.

Engineering Drawings & Specs: Advanced, expert ability to read and understand basic and complex engineering drawings and specifications. Assists others in understanding detailed drawings and specs. Utilize knowledge of drawings to effect configuration changes in a lab environment to support daily activities and in preparation for formal test execution.

Engineering Tests Techniques: Advanced, expert ability to perform engineering tests techniques, including handling qualities, performance, systems testing, etc.

Test Configuration Control: Advanced, expert knowledge of test article/vehicle configuration control procedure required to prepare for a given test. This requires the use of configuration control management process to track and maintain article/vehicle configuration. Advanced, expert ability to configure the test article using test requirements gathered from test plans, government regulations, and safety rules.

Vehicle Systems & Subcomponent Test: Advanced, expert knowledge across a wide range of engineering disciplines (e.g., mechanical design, electrical design, fluid power systems, propulsion/fuel systems, environmental conditioning, control theory, and test instrumentation). Utilizes the above knowledge and Industry standards to support set ups and execution of avionics system tests.

Desired: Experience working as a technician and/or directing technicians is highly desirable. Experience with lab and test operations is highly desirable. Experience with XML and Linux. Experience with Windchill based product data management systems to release and revise documents. Experience with NASAs ARTEMIS/MAESTRO system.
Must be U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Card Holder.
